To cut a long story short, it was going on the cheap, so I bought.
Oh. My. God.
I didn't realise how much of a difference it would actually make to my games. So far, because of work etc, I've only tried it with Amped, Halo and PGR. I've watched LotR with it as well.
It is untrue.
In Amped, you can hear the snow swishing around you, and hear the other boarders as they go past etc. On PGR you can hear all the other cars around you, can you don't have to bother with the review mirror, as you can tell which side of you they're trying to overtake on.
Halo is unbelievable! Youi no longer need the radar, just some ears that work. The sub producers great bass as ships fly past overhead.
As for LotR, it was just like being back in the cinema. I don't know how many of you have a surround setup, but I'd highly recommend you got one. My kit was only £150.
:-D

Is'nt it 256 channels of sound separated into 5 speakers, and 1 subwoofer? (Dolby Digital)
The sound is infinatly sharper then 4.0 as its digital and more precise.
I had pro logic before getting Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital is far more superior :)

Pro Logic is very different to dolby digital 5.1, so to get 5.1 sound you'll still have to run out to the shops and buy a kit.
The pro logic signal comes through the normal stereo leads, whereas 5.1 comes through a separate optical lead. The main difference between the two is that in 5.1, the real speakers are separate from each other (you could say in stereo) whereas in pro logic the rear speakers give out the same sound (like mono).
You can still notice the difference between dolby digital and pro logic. So it'd still be a good addition to your TV.

I guess so yes.
It has video inputs aswell, so when it changes the sound input, it changes the picture on the TV aswell, nice touch, that.
Brilliant is all I can say, 60watts true sound through each speaker. 300 Watts of pure joy. One of the best purchases I've ever made, especially for Halo.
Great to see you've joined the elite group of 5.1 people, YH. Movies and games will never be the same again.
