Think about it, it could be absolutely wicked, especially withtoday's graphical effects generating a real-time fire, spreading or dwindling according to your actions. Done properly, it could be ace. Make it an action-type game though, not Sim Fire Fighter or something equally godawful.

Thanks

I once made a game where a fire breathing dinosaur set fire to a building, and you had to put out the flames before they spread. That was like 8 years ago, I could do much better now ;)

City Crisis is mostly fire extinguishing although it does require you to save trapped civilians. Rosco McQueen was a cartoony fire fighter, who had to run through a burning tower block, putting out living fires that actually spread if left unchecked. Had to save the trapped inhabitants, and should the temperature guage get too high, the building went kablooey. ;)

Was a spoof of Steve McQueen and some old fire fighting film he starred in, something along the lines of "terror on the 51st floor", I remember not. ;)

i once had a wild-card thing for my snes that slotted into the top and you could play discs on it (copys of the real games).

from a carboot sale i got loads of random disks for 50p. one was a japanese fire-fighting sim. the graphics were pretty good too.

basicaly the story was (as far as i could understand it as it was in japanese) some people started a fire in the lobby of a sky scraper and it had spead through the whole building.
you were a fire man and had to put out all the fires on one floor before going to the next.
you had a little mobile unit full of water and once it ran out you had to full it up at points on the wall.

it wasn't boring at all as you had to sovle puzzles (like trying to go through a maze of fires to get to a fill up point) and in some bit you got to use and axe to bust down doors or a ladder to get to windows outside.
it was quite cool to when you just put out a fire and managed to save someone, but better when you got there to late and they ran about in flames before falling to the floor and rolling about screaming funny sounding japanese stuff.

the only problem was it crashed after 1 hour of play and i only ever got to the 4th floor.

The Fireman on PSone, available on US NTSC import, is the best one.
City Crisis is helicopter rescue, and Rosco McQueen? :-)

City Crisis on the PS2, and Rosco McQueen on the PS1 are another two that spring to mind. ;)

There was that game, Sim Copter was it I think.

Anyway you controlled a helicopter with a bucket underneath so that you could carry water to buildings that were ablaze. You also had to rescue people from said buildings.

The best part was, you could throw them out of the helicopter onto the streets below, presumably, if they were mingers.
