Put this in its own topic to make sure everyone gets to see it.

Yes, us and jap games, played on a uk machine, will output a ntsc signal, which your tv might not be compatable with.

However, you can buy devices which transform an ntsc signal to pal format.
Just plugs in between your cube and tv.

As i understand it, in terms of picture quality, well, it won't be as high a standard. However, with these things, you get what you pay for, and if you get a good one then you won't notice any difference in picture or sound quality.

So there you have it, all is not lost for importing. It'll just cost a bit more.

And a bit of advice - when you get a signal convertor, make sure you can return it, if you decide you do want a higher quality one.

Albert and Cookie monster, Simzer is talking about signal convertors. So if your TV is PAL and your GameCube is putting out an NTSC signal you can put a signal convertor between the two to make them compatible. Have a mosey over to your nearest Sony shop and you'll see some that retail at £2000!

Yeah, I only paid about £190 for my 21inch NTSC-compatible TV. Haven't put that feature to the test yet though.

in NGC they said that to get a perfect picture , you will have to buy a convertor that costs ... get this .... £2-3000 ! You might aswell buy a second hand american cube on ebay for £100. Then again , that wont work on your TV either , so just get a cheap portable tv for £100 , make sure it's ntsc compatable and your away !

*pats Simzer on back*

That's the stuff Simzer. Thats what I would've said if you hadn't done it already.
As a matter of fact the cheapest one you can get is £15, only it takes the NTSC signal through a composite lead and converts it into PAL SCART. And - get this - it requires two AA batteries!

I think you people would be better off buying new TVs. Those £2000 pieces of kit, although giving superb picture quality, have sizes of Xbox proportions.

Seems a little excessive to me. I suggest we all shoot buster merryfield.

or burn him on a bonfire.

or rub him on a giant cheese grater.
