I was watching LOTR on dvd today being nearly 3 hours and just though how brilliant it was. The special affects are something else and even though there are differences it is true to the book as much as possible. They cut out a lot of the first bit after the party ie Tom and the barrow wight. It was interesting to see the Balrog as there is know discription in the book. I though Liv was very good in her brief role as Arwin though if i remember Glofindel was the elf who met Frodo just before Rivendel. Lucky EW againd LTs chest hmmm worth a morgal knife for?

She apparently turns up at Helms Deep with a cadre of Elvish archers to help the Roharrim against Sarumans Uruk-Hai. Which goes completely against the book, because all Arwen does is moon about in Rivendell, then moons about in Lorien. I bet she turns up at Pelennor Fields as well, in Return of the King.

Arwen plays a bigger role in the next two films, I think. Or probably the last.

Every fantasy series since Lord of the Rings has ripped it off in some way.

Thats why LotR rules.

Lucas ripped Toilken off so much

Star Wars is just Lord of the Rings in space.

So is Warcraft but I knew that when first game came out because I rule.

The Hobbit was one of my favourite books then went off beardy stuff

The Silmarillion, show some respect, ye-of-no-beard. It's the history of Middle-Earth, basically. Starts before the 1st Age, ends slightly after Lord of The Rings. It rocks. Big battles, many Balrogs, feckoff dragons, Sauron looks like little gimp compared to Dadddy of Evil Melkor who kills elves and stuff.

Get it.

Get The Silmarillion. Go on. You know you want to. Except you spent all your money drinking, of which I approve. So get a National Lottery Grant.

I watched it for first time today and it was good.

I've only read The Fellowship and The Hobbit, might start reading others.

Yeah it was cool

Tom Bombadill (sp) wasn't in it though... he was cool in the book.

About as happy as I was when I found it :) And the guy that put it up there must have put countless hours in. What a fan. I salute him.

Congrats to the guys who managed to get it on the web. Massive undertaking.
Putting that in print would certainly complement my collection.
