Hi, I've been talking in the X-Box forum for a good few weeks now and you're probably thinking "What's a Ninty doing in my forum? Jeeves, release the hounds!" or.. er.. something along those lines. The reason is, I'm soon going to add The X-Box to my ever growing collection of consoles.

Now, I'm going to get it off Special Reserve, and this is what I think I'll get.

1: - X-Box Console, Official Controller, SCART Lead and Halo - £209.99
2: - Extra Official Controller - £22.99
3: - Wreckless - £24.99
----------
TOTAL: - £257.97

Now, I'm lucky enough to have a brother who will willingly pay half of the price, leaving me only having to pay around £130.00.

However, I am having second thoughts (and this is where you X-Box fanatics can really sing Microsoft's praises). These are the questions I'd like answered, if you'd be so kind:

1: - Am I making the right choice with what I'm buying?
2: - What (bar Halo and Wreckless) good games are there out on X-Box?
3: - What good games are there to come on X-Box?
4: - What does the future hold (in terms of internet, etc)?
5: - How can I convince my parents another console is a worthy purchase?

Of course, I'll be reading up on this in magazines and on the internet, but after chatting in here for a while, it seems like there are a lot of people with a lot of knowledge so I'd be interested to hear some reccommendations, etc.

Thanks,
Maverick42.

If you're going for an Extra Pad, get the Xbox Fire Pack from SR.
It includes the DVD equiptment too.

Even better, you could join the world be boycotting it for 3 months, forcing MS to reduce to to a fiver by Christmas, then EVERYONE will get one, the Xbox will even outsell the PS2 and MS will make a fortune on people buying games for it.

Also, I'll be able to play 8 player deathmatches with my friend, without having to splash out 300+ quid...

:D only thing to do now is to persuade my parents to let me spend the cash LOL! I hope we won't have to pay for XBOX LIVE, oh and, is it a waste of time buying the Xbox cos in most likelyhood i'm not going to be getting ADSL anytime in the near future (ADSL is one of the many different flavours of broadband) add me to ur hotmail, seeya m8.

My email is [email protected] but I will tell you all you need to know in here (hopefully) :) (the smily is for Sibs and other Ninties to show that I am a happy person)

The best Xbox game you could buy? Erm... Well at the moment although Halo is one of the best games that I have ever played ther are others (a lot of them too). Project Gotham Racing in my opinion is a must buy, so far I have played the game fro over 7 hours in 2 days and I can't get enough of it. The cars are superb, the graphics are awesome and the music is well... However you want it! If I was you I would pick this up along with an Xbox and Halo.

Another definate purchase is Max Payne, if you have played this on PC then there isn't much else (slightly better graphics), but if you owned the PS2 version or you want to find the best version of game then definatley pick up the Xbox version, trust me on this one :)! Dead or Alive 3 is another must own title in my opinion, the game contains the best graphical engine that I have every witnessed (Halo's are good but not like this). The animations are fluid and the levels are extremly varied (even contain multiple fighting platforms), if you own an Xbox then pick this one up!

If you like racing games then RalliSport challenge will cater for your rallying needs, the game contains superb graphics, customisable sound-tracks and some excellent gaming modes! Although this isn't a must own for all gamers, it is a must for fans of the racing genre, do not leave the shop without this game! After

There are a host of other great games to buy, the ones I would recommend are:

JSRF (great game but never got into it)
THPS3
Gun Valkyrie
Hunter The Reckoning
Amped Freestlye Snowboarding

If you don't already have a DVD player then pick up a DVD Playback Kit, the Xbox DVD player is a superb one and the remote enables extra functions that top DVD players have.

If you want to know anything else just ask!

From Chris,

Hiya Garble (or however u spelt it),
I am in need of an Xbox too, i played it with halo 3 way at a mate's house.
I thought it was just about the best game i'd ever played, and seemed to
be a good console generally (what's problem with the controllers? I think
they're really comfortable, any self-respecting Gnome could hold one), BUT aside from the price, which is my main concern, but if the Xbox only holds out under the enormous funding "the big M" is giving it, and it eventually crashes and burns slowly under ridicule (like my accursed Dreamcast did), i will have wasted another £200. I know the offer on an xbox is good, 1 controller (wasn't it two a while ago?) and Halo, BUT, like the fool i am i was totally fooled by the enormous hype that went into the PS2 (curse it's foul name) and so spent £300 on it!!!!!!!!!! (God i wish i hadn't)
and up till now have wasted my money on rubbish games, or distinctly average ones, SO, as you can imagine i'm a pretty disillusioned gamer. THEY'VE TAKEN ALL MY MONEY LOL!!!!!!!!! SO, is the TRUE, THE WISEST, NEXT STEP, TO BUY AN XBOX? To empty out my account ONE last time? (Halo 2 i will buy as an exception to this, of course)
I need to know, is XBOX FUN, ADDICTIVE, GOOD TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS, AND, FINALLY, WORTH MY MONEY.
Thanks very much guys, i hope someone will give me a good reply to my important question, a detailed one too, preferably :D

Thanks. I was kind of half asleep when I wrote that (note the time) so I probably didn't realise.
