Ok things weren’t looking good for Nintendo before the release of Pokémon because the N64 was not doing too good.

So then came along Pokémon, it was a big craze it made Nintendo millions and at the end of the year (or the year after that I can’t remember) they reported that they made a profit of $4.6 billion.
This had Nintendo on top of the world and made up for the profits they didn’t make from the N64.

But like all good crazes it ran out and soon the games only started selling to actual gamers instead of people buying it to be “in” the craze.

Then they released a load more Pokémon games which all equalled rubbish, so what does Nintendo do, well they then release Pokémon Gold and Silver and they were too much like the last ones and turned up becoming too repetitive.

The next Pokémon needs to be real different with new things and we don’t need more Pokémon, they are as annoying as those trophies are on SSBM.

Now of course Nintendo made lots of money, which is good, but there was bad things such as the fact their “kiddie” tag got bigger and they had one of the best things ever, Pokémon, and they go and mess it up.

Lets hope Nintendo don’t do the same to other sequels too good games, although they don’t do many sequels.

I'm sorry can you stop talking crap... what original are you referring too here? Other than the lead character being a familiar green clad plumber what connection does the AWESOME Luigi's Mansion actually have to any previous Nintendo titles?

SInce the release of the N64 I count one bad title from Nintendo on their home consoles... Dr. Mario 64. The sequel to the Mario platformers comes here october 4th in the form of the best platformer in the world, Super Mario Sunshine...

Please what a wothless statement.

I think that Nintendo got it right with Pokemon.

The original games were addictive, fantastic RPGs. Even Anti-Ninty Turbonutter got hooked on Pokemon blue! ;-D

Pokemon Gold and Silver were fine.
The best of the origina with plenty of new Pokemon, new moves, a new island, and loads of new features and ideas.

Admittedly, the new Pokemon screenshots haen't exactly impressed me so far (I think that they should try to to use the GBA's power to evolve the series) but I'm sure they know what they are doing.

As for the merchandising, they came up with the game and people liked it.
If people wanted merchandise to go with it, there's not reason why not.

Sure, some people got sick of it, but that happens to any huge craze.

Nope not really, if it was that boring then RPG's just wouldn't sell.

I don't tend to like turn based fighting but I enjoy the Pokemon games.
