The console contest is only between two consoles and these are the two consoles:
1 The X-box soon to go on line with the great graphics and designs it has also made a great amount of money,
2 Now the Ps2 is also soon to go on line and its long black box the first console to have a built in DVD player and the games with un-realistic graphics is the other console to be in the contest to be the best console on earth.

Which console would you recommend to your fellow mates and partners and the reason's needed, Cheers and lets see which is the popular console.

I couldn't give a monkeys about the console wars really,

I am hapy with my Nintendo Gamecube

Garbe is happy with his Xbox

is happy with his PS2 (couldn't think of a good example!)

Why should it matter if one is better than the other really, we buy a console for the games, if we like games on another console then maybe we buy that aswell!

Dam fanboys

Thanks

GET THIS GAMECUBE should be in the consoles war!! If you have seen the japanese gamecube the one that panasonic have designed known as gameqube, this is a heavy console which allows you to play gamecube games from usa and jap not only that it has dvd playback. Plus it looks cool with its lcd monitor. This console is a must have if you live in Asia, but it will set you back quite a lot!!

Well yes, people liked the Psone so they went for the PS2.

I never knew microsoft had an earlier console?

Yup i think that too! (Not dissing the PS2, just i prefer the XBOX)

Yes the PS2 has a big back-catalogue of games. By Christmas the XBOX is going to have 150+ games.

Right ok, heres my opinion. I think that the only real reason Ps2 is doing better than the X-box is because the Ps1 was such a big success. So if the Ps1 was so good then why shouldnt the Ps2. Since Microsoft's earlier console was such a failure people are too scared to buy the X-box incase that is a failure to and then they have wasted £200 or £300. I have an X-box and its great, better than Ps2. Another reason for the Ps2 out selling the X-box is because of the wider range of games there are to buy.

I think garbe123 just about set the record straight there, so I'm not going to argue. I am, however, going to point out that developers intentionally make a loss on consoles and then make it back on games. So, it doesn't matter if Mr. Gates (and I don't think it was him PERSONALLY) was losing £50 or £150 through X-Box sales, with games like Halo, he'll just as easily make it back.

Nasty Neighbour, quit the rubbish GameCube talk, there are 3 consoles on the market! I could just turn around and say "some would say that Nintendo rushed the GameCube onto the shelves, no DVD, no Hard-Drive planned yet and currently no on-line capabilities". In an era where gamers want more than just a console the inclusion of a DVD drive gives developers the chance to develop games on DVDs and include 10X more data than a standard CD or GD. Does that mean the GameCube has better games just becuase it doesn't have anything else? NO, of course it doesn't, I have played a GameCube with a range of 5 games long before you did (friend imported from America) and I didn't play 1 games that matched up to the level of Halo, not only that but the games I played didn't impress me at all. Rouge Leader was a nice game if you want a nice bit of "eye candy" but the gameplay was boring and repetitive. Louigi's Mansion took me 3 hours 57 minutes to complete! I know its down to personal taste, but when the most stupid comment like the one you just said was going to be used as an argument I couldn't help but try and put you straight.

Have you got any dates for the PS2 and GameCube going on-line? Didn't think so, the Xbox has already got the Hard-Drive and Modem built in and Xbox Live is going to be released towards the end of Autumn/Beginning of Winter. As it stands the only console that will be on-line before the end of Spring 2003 is the Xbox and that is all that matters. Talk is cheap, you need facts to start saying what is going to happen, sure they might go on-line and there has been plenty of talk, but where are the dates and facts? The UK isn't the only country in the world, 80% of Americans own Broad-Band internet connection, more and more people in the UK own a Broad-Band connection, just becuase you don't own it doesn't mean that they are going to change their on-line plans, I for one will be getting Broad-Band before the end of this year and I have spoke to 5 people in here that have/are getting soon a Broad-Band Connection.

>Bill gates was losing £50 with every console sold even before putting the >price down and im sure the GC and PS2 has seeming like they still make >consoles instead of giving up because they werent making money.

True Bill Gates was losing money on each console, I think it was more than £50 but he was losing money. Can you see Bill Gates going bust? This is the man hat has invested £2 Billion world-wide on the Xbox, this is the man that has spent £750 researching in China, I thought everyone knew by now, consoles don't make the money it is the games!

>so whats the point saying it if every console will have the ability.

As I have said before, the PS2 has been talked about going on-line from the May of 2001 but as yet there isn't date planned for the release of a Hard-Drive or infact a service like Xbox Live.

>and this is a big selling point yes?

I take it you are being sarcastic? I couldn't agree more, the GameCube is a smal purple/black cube and the Xbox is a monsterous black console, ooh I know I am going to go get a becuase it has a long box, I am going to let fool me into thinking it will be bigger and better than the Dreamcast but in fact I was dragged into evil plan on what they were going to do but in fact didn't match up to the Dreamcast. Lets face it, I used to be anti console, now I am getting a GameCube (for Resident Evil), I own an Xbox, Dreamcast, PSONE and I sold my PS2 (fell into Sonys trap) in order to get an Xbox and after own/owning nearly all the consoles available (bar the Sega Saturn) I can safely say that the PS2 was all hype (bar GTA3) and the Dreamcast is better than it in nearly every department.

Why is it a useless reason to buy it? It has to be one of the best ideas of its time, I for one wanted a console with a DVD player so that eliminated the GameCube straight away. Don't they all play games? Is it just me or am I missing something? The Xbox and PS2 both play games, read my first paragraph again I am not going to around in circles over this.

Which every console has and seems to look almost the same if you look at the better games on each format seeming as its the games using the graphic ability.

Bill gates was losing £50 with every console sold even before putting the price down and im sure the GC and PS2 has seeming like they still make consoles instead of giving up because they werent making money.

Althought the fact games console means a console that plays games and not DVDs meaning that, that idea is a useless reason to buy it. (yes some would buy it for the DVDs but we want the best console meaning one that plays games)

Id say its up to them as everyone has their own tastes.

I have talked with Tom extensively about which one to get, but I am looking for one for under £120, the one Tom and I looked at was £149.99 which I will get if I can't find one for any cheaper. I definatley want a 5.1 system and with the games due out on the Xbox between now and christmas I don't think I would ever touch the GameCube, I might till get one, but my main priority is the 5.1 system. I have searched all over the net for a 5.1 system but the one that Tom found for me looks the best so far. Mantis, would you please ask your friend where he got his from and if he knows where I could get one for under £120 please?

My Bedroom is fairly small although I have a Bunk-Bed with Soafer underneath, desk, wardrobe, chest of draws, 25" TV with Xbox and Dreamcast, 21 DVD's and games are all mounted on the wall in storage stands but I want a 5.1 system so that I can utilise my DVD's and Xbox games, the speakers will go around my room and the AMP behind my TV, the only problem I have now is finding a system that suits my sky rocket yet still performs well. If anyone has any ideas please would you tell me about them, I would be very greatful. My MSN is [email protected] so feel free to add me if you have any information regarding a system, thanks!
