Right, i'm ready to set off on my mission to try Linux, i'm looking forward to it a lot more now, I was thinking i'd have to dual-boot Windows and Linux for certain programs like flash and Photoshop but after researching a little I found a program called WineX, nice program although I still don't know much about it but it allows you to run Windows products straight off Linux.
That and the fact that i've got a copy of openoffice.org
woooo, even though i'll probably use MS Office for database's and misc word processing. I can also run some games off it too! yipee.

Anyway, I was pondering and other than making websites on my PC I like to listen to music and watch movies but i'm not sure of any download programs or p2p programs like KaZaA on Linux, so I was hoping someone might have an idea :)
I'd run KaZaA but i'd like to use as many Linux products as possible.

Well done!

OpenOffice.org (oo.o) is every bit as good as Office - they're virtually identical. As for MP3, you need xmms and probably ALSA sound drivers, which arefar superior to Win98 ones, IME. alsa-project.org, For web graphics, get the GIMP, for web design I recommend Quanta+ strongly. Also, make sure you use the terminal a bit and get used to it. It's really good.

P2P is tricky. If you like LimeWire, thatruns natively, although gtk-gnutella is much better, if you get the CVS versions. giFT (giFt.sf.net) is the bst P2P program on earth, on any OS, although a little hardcore. Unfortunately, for anything else (apart from Audiogalaxy, but that's dead now) you'll have to use Windows, but this situation is improving!

A good sofware site - rpmfind.net, assuming you're using an RPM-based distro (*shuddrs*).

Browsers - Galeon for the l33t GNOME uers, but Mozilla is good for anyone with a retarded GUI like KDE, as is the norm :-)

Have fun!
