I beleive Moz does, but NS relies on an external player unless it's been created in Flash, IE will do it if you use MS based player embedded within the page... If you going for a MOZ only solution, go for it, other wise.. it's still Flash for this...
Oddly enough, I'm playing with a similar thing at work... and if you puruse this months Cre@te Online, they have a hue section this month on sound in web pages woth some interesting solutions
I just clicked an MP3 link form Andi's server, and it started a little embedded player from Mozilla instead of downloading it. I think it does have MP3 capabilities.
Flash MX can load MP3 audio files from a drive or server into a movie at runtime. There are no sounds in the library of the source file, so no "pre loading is needed" It also allows you ti change the audio stream in runtime to!
I'd go with FMX!:-)
I'm intrested in ColFusion as it's so darn expensive (£2000?) but it involves learning more languages which doesn't really excite me considering i'm trying to learn php and Javascript right now.
Glad your liking it though, official versions of software are very nice, not that i'd know.
Anyway...
DON'T LOOK AT mE, I'M STILL IN GREECE!
And this keyboard is possesed...
Still, only 14 hours to go, but, umm, this was only ever be supposed to run off localhost, which gives me a 112mb/s connection speed.
And yes, it is Internet kareoke :-)
> Whoa..ok, ok, that post sounded slightly bitter towards bb ;)
I love BB, just prefer my 4MB pipe at work especially as I have no reason to install BB yet at home, though, it has been agreed, that when I move again with Wife and baby next year, we will be having at least a 512 conn put in if not a 1MB. Non of this 128k malarky here!:-)

Depends on the sample rate. You would expect problems at CD quality!

Now thats where FlashMX comes in;) The streaming has been improoved 10fold and I've seen loads of examples where MP3's stream beautifully with no initial download on 56k! (Using 3rd party tools such as squeeze)
BTW, have I ranted yet about Studio MX? If not... STUDIO MX ROCKS!! and I mean... R O C K S ! ! !
**Tyla strokes box lovingly** Finally, .NET, PHP, XML, CFM, ASP JSP support without code re writing, Full validation tools, Integration with all MX apps, full Accessability compliancy... This is one hell of a suite!
If you can afford the £589 for it... buy it... you'll never need anything else!! Macromedia have finally got their act together...
S T U D I O M X R O C K S!!
did I say...
S T U D I O M X R O C K S!!
you need 12kbps to get a good audio stream, so i've found, that so when your listening to it, it doesn't catch up with the download and pause.
And if it's on Flash, you'd have to wait for a while longer and you can't even listen to the song while it downloads.
Nice.

Why surprised? Personally it's down to tho your aiming at. I use 56k at home, will eventually get bradband when I've moved again next year but till then, 56k'll do me as if done correctly, Rob's idea would stream perfectly on 56k! In fact, if anything is done coprrectly 56k shouldn't be a problem at all...
I personally use my 4MB pipe at work for accessing stuff like this, I use my home conn mainly for work/email and here!
Though just to make you happy... 56k is still important, especially as so many of you are under the dissolusioned into thinking that we live in a BB/Cable/T3 world... If only!;) Remeber.. only 14% of the UK net population is on BB and most of them are companies... so yeah... 56k is still important...
Anyway.. Rob? You worked it out yet? I still say Beatnik!
I shall nw return to look at 1MB connections for my next home...
