Just a quick newsflash - According to Codejunkies.com, SEGA have officially announced these games are what makes up the Sonic Mega Collection:

Sonic The Hedgehog
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Sonic The Hedgehog 3
Sonic and Knuckles
Sonic 3D Blast
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Sonic Spinball

According to Codejunkies.com, the announcement by SEGA claims that each game is going to be exactly the same as the originals.

I for one am looking forward to this 'Sonic Allstars' disc, having never had a mega-drive...

I was quite surprised to find that I own Sonic 2 on the megadrive. I have recently rediscovered the brilliance of all my old consoles, and whilst looking through my megadrive game collection, I came across Sonic 2. The thing is, I never bought it. How I have it I don't know, but I'm not complaining.

This has already been done on the sega saturn it had all the main sonic games on like sonic 1, 2, and 3 Sonic and knuckles was also on

i think it had aload of all japanese sonic adverts which are insanely funny. I might rip them off the Sonic jam CD and post them some where on the net for you guys to laugh at

Nights would be very cool on gamecube i used to love that game

i would buy the gamecube version of the sonic collection mainly for Sonic 3D blast and to see some remixed levels in on sonic 1 like on sonic jam

I think the teletubbies have a little more to offer than Sonic...

I just mean that i expect more than running, jumping and rolling really. Just my opinion of course, but i like something more to get to grips with. (SA2B suggests to me that sega agree.)
And that if the games were being released for the first time now, they simply wouldn't be taken seriously.

Yeah but Resident Evil games are story driven so if you haven't played all the games then you could get confused. Sonic games are about as story driven as the tele tubbies, Sega really have got some balls to release their shoddy 16bit games on the Cube, it would make sense if they put them on GBA but GC come on guys we deserve better. I can't even understand why they're bothering to release the original Sonic Adventure, up against Mario 64 that game looks crap so up against Mario Sunshine it's gonna look terrible, if they're gonna port something at least let it be Crazy Taxi 2 or something more recent that actually received good reviews.

That was poor play Edgy, admittidly i'd prefer new Mario games but the Sonic Megacollection is 16 bit games on a 128 bit console (its the easiest comparison). The Advance games are re-released on the GBA, yeah i'd prefer new ones but they there isn't an obvious downgrade in titles.

Mario Allstars on the SNES was 8 bit and 16 bit games on a 16 bit console.

They could release this Gamecube game on the GBA for christs sake a GBA cart can have the capacity to hold Zelda ocarina of time.

Dissapointed I say so but then SEGA are doing what Capcom are doing. Capcom have dedicated a series to Nintendo, in order for the fans to catch up on the games they missed they're re-releasing RE1/2/3/CV. SEGA are doing the same, SA 2 released, S1/2/3 etc.... soon to be released then Sonic adventure 1 and then the new titles pile in...

Yup, I agree with IB there, Mario rules over Sonic any day of the week.
Just look at Mario Sunshine, it look way better than either the Sonic Adventure games, plus Mario World is still considered one of the best games ever.

I certainly wont get that Sonic collection as all those games are old crap compared to the Mario titles. None of them have ever been any good, with speed taking precedence over the gameplay.
In fact, it was probably the Sonic games that started people thinking about graphics and speed over actual gameplay.

Not only am I actually not insane, I work in an office (for a very reasonable wage :P). And I hate to burst your bubble, but NO Sonic game has EVER come CLOSE to being ANYWHERE nearly as good as ANY mario game in EXISTENCE.

Sonic games centre around your capacity to fly around so fast that you completely forget that there is practically no gameplay or involvement or even any challenge surrounding what it is you are doing, and what it is you are doing is just watching Sonic zip about really quickly.

What fun.

i probably wont buy the compilation thingy, not because i dont think its a good idea, it is, and not because i dont like sonic or sega, cos i do, but its just i can play Sonic The Hedgehog,Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic 3D Blast(is that sonic 3D, with the flickies that follow you around?) and Sonic Spinball because i still play them all on my megadrive, cos i never saw any reason to get rid of it when i got more consoles.

but i'v never heard of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine though, and i'm very annoyed i never bought sonic 3, its great
