There are many halls of fame. Baseball, basketball, hockey, computing & IT, rock & roll, bowling and even chess. So why not create one for computer games? Sure, there's the 'Game of the Year' award for the best looking game, and then there's the weekly and monthly top 10 charts for the best selling games. But, why not have a gaming hall of fame?

The gaming hall of fame would be somewhere to accommodate a collection of the most loved games, from accross all formats, voted for by gamers. Here, you can find interesting facts about the game and read about why gamers loved it so much. The games that would be in the gaming hall of fame wouldn't necessarily have to be recent games, either. Duck Hunt, Alex Kidd and even Pong would be strong contenders.

Voting could take place throughout every month, meaning there would be 12 games voted into the hall of fame each year. With the amount of games released in the past, and the amount of games released per year, we'd never run out of games to vote for.

We often hear people say "this is the best game ever" but, after a while, another game comes along and that becomes "the best game ever". So why not credit those games, and their developers, by entering them into the gaming hall of fame?

I totally agree. FF7 was better than 8. And Spyro does not even come close to Mario.

I wouldn't say Mario 64 deserved to be in there, maybe Super Mario Bros. 3 on the SNES, and definately Goldeneye.

Hey, why not put this idea into practice? We could vote for a new game every month in this thread - that would add some variety to the FOG boards.

I wonder if there is a game that everyone would agree to vote into the gaming hall of fame. Is there such a game that everyone loved?

Now, now, tiddlypeeps...

Voting would take place every month, so if your chosen game doesn't make it into the hall of fame, you could always try again the next month. There's no point arguing over it now, is there?

er-no, on the first off, don't say I talk crap. You're welcome to disagree, but that's just plain rude.

Secondly, maybe Spyro 2 was a bit ridiculous, but the FF8 one was not. I do agree, however, that Mario 64 should be in there.
Note I'm entitled to an opinion without it being, and I quote, 'crap'

Thats slightly childish, no?

You really do talk crap.

Zelda - Ocarina of Time -YES
Spyro 2 - NO
FF8 - NO

Change those for Mario 64 and Final Fantasy 7.

Yeah sounds good. And it would settle the arguements of "what the most popular game is" and all that malarky.

Well, it may not be the greatest game ever but Final Fantasy 8 has a spectacular ending, cleverly edited and worryingly good quality. It was the one of the best 100-hour blocks of my life. Out of the many I've had.

Oh, and obviously Zelda 64, Spyro 2, so on and so forth.
