Does anyone remember a game called WWF Rage in a Cage? What format was this on? Was it any good? Did it ever get released over here?

The SNES WWF games were pretty impressive. I had the first one WWF Challenge with the old favourites such as Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Legion of Doom, Earthquake and a younger Undertaker. Never actually got WWF Royal Rumble (nothing to do with DC version!!) but did play it. That was I think the first game that enabled about six people in the ring but the characters were crap with the likes of Ric Flair, Lex Lugger, Macho Man and all the other WCW has beens!! We have come a long way!!

WWF; it's appeared on every format, from Amiga, to Dreamcast, (excluding the Saturn). Has it ever disapointed? I think that in most cases, the games have been overly impressive! The most impressive however has to be the THQ range which has brought us the likes of Wrestlemania 2000, No Mercy, both on the N64 and also Smackdown 1 and 2 on the PSX; all exceeding! I have owned all of these titles except of coures No Mercy that is released on 15th December, (SUPPOSEDLY)! I have got hold of an American version of Smackdown 2 and for those of you that own Playstations and haven't, I have to say that it is AMAZING! All the matches you could ever have hoped for are cramed into and little compact disc! My mate Wayne and I have played it solidly ever since we got it and I ahve to say that we have both been impressed by the sheer gameplay value. I recall on time in particular, I was the 'Undertaker' and he was 'Curt Angle' we climbed to the top of the cell in a 'Hell In A cell' match; I performed a 'Last Ride' Through the top of the cell and sent his character crashing through the mat! I then climbed all the way down off the cell and into the ring and still had time to pin him for the 1,2,3! The next time we were on the top of the cage, I was 'Curt Angle' and he was 'Taz', I pulled off an overhead belly to belly suplex off the top off the cell through the anounce table at the side of the ring!! Hell of an impace! It was a liberating experience, I can tell you! Oh, and guess what, you can even do the WORM! pell it out at home!! W....O....R....M.... HUH! HUH! HUH! BLAM!! Lovin' it!

To see the matches for Survivor Series go to :
" www.wwfsurvivorseries.com ", and click on the icon saying " matches ". I stayed up to watch a pay-per-view live at 1:00 once. Take my advice :
" Don't Bother! "
I had school the next day and I nearly fainted from tiredness in all my lessons.
Is anyone else getting No Mercy AND Smackdown 2, and who else thinks the WWF should make Y2J win more matches. His character is fading.

Looking at the WWF RP idea I think it would be great if you could BE a wrestler and choose friends/enemies/run in buds AND wrestle top quality matches. Imagine creating a wrestler choosing his facial features, not just selecting different heads (WWF Smackdown take note), then pick out some cool clothes again not from the current wrestler attire. Before customizing his attitudes, behaviour, styles etc. Then as you have this big intro as yoru wrestler enters the arena doors and immediately makes friends with someone. Imagine you actually direct your man to the locker room and bump into X-pac and talk to him. Then X - pac is added to your 'Buddy meter' and (like The Sims) when you've helped him out and been his partner a couple of times then he'll then start doing run ins. I'd see it like this

+25 points = Run ins from that wrestler
+50 points = Can now tag with this wrestler
+100 points = Can begin a group with this wrestler.

-25 points = Wrestler attacks you
-50 points = Wrestler will keep challenging you to grudge matches
-100 points = You paint a big red target on your stomach as this wrestler just won't leave you alone until you kick his butt!

Now to get + or - points it depends on what you do for that wrestler. Say you attack a wrestler just to please another...then if the wrestler you are on minus points with attacks you...the wrestlers you're on good terms with will attack them. Anyway to put it simply you make your own network of friends (and enemies) then when you're ready and you've got enough 'buddies' you approach them and ask them to join your group. This of course mist be followed by a TV spectacular as the group makes itself known eg run ins and then huge beating or just a huge intro with fireworks exploding everywhere (you pick the colours and symbols that appear on screen). Now I'd imagine the wrestling matches to be alot like WWF No Mercy with all the current WWF wrestlers. I'd inculde a training mode where you're actually taught when to pull off a move and how to execute it perfectly. Another thing, during a match it would be great if sometimes the wrestlers moves were not the best. eg Powerbomb without training hurts, but not as much as a powerbomb with training and then maybe wrestlers can learn to develop moves, so from the powerbomb you can learn to execute the last ride!

Anyway I think that the bloke who mentioned this before has a great idea and these are my ideas on it, so fair play to the bloke who thought of i and I hope publishers will make something like it in the future.

The popularity of WWF Wrestlemania 2000 is what keeps N64 owners grappling and powerbombing their way through the game to this day. The challenging career mode and create-a-wrestler feature can only carry us so far. So what, if anything can developer Aki/Asmik do for an encore? How about more of the same WWF action and drama that we just can’t seem to get enough of? WWF No Mercy doesn’t stray too far from the formula laid down by previous THQ wrestling games, but it adds enough to get us hyped up all over again.

The New Features

Over 65 WWF Superstars including newcomers like Rikishi and Tazz.
All new game modes including the Ladder Match.
Survival Mode -- take on the entire federation, one by one, without losing a match.
Jump into the ring as a special referee and exact some revenge.
All-new Tag Team Matches.
Backstage Brawls in 10 new venues.
Create a Pay-Per-View Event, complete with name, date, arena, number of matches and the content of each match.
New weapons.
New expanded career mode.
Expanded Create-a-Wrestler feature.
New WWF Show venues like Smackdown.
New wrestler animations.

First and foremost there are new characters like Kurt Angle, The Dudley Boyz, Tazz and Chris Benoit sprinkled throughout the game.
All of the other modes speak for themselves.
The only let-down I can forsee is the non-addition of the hell-in-a-cell an casket matches included in SD2.
The graphics, sounds and crowd look amazing, and will push the N64 to it's limits.
This will really make WWF NM the best wrestling game ever.
