I just bought a massive PHP book called "Mastering PHP 4.1" and ive been trying for ages but cant seem to get anywhere. It came with a disc that contained a PHP d/l, a MySQL d/l, and a an apache d/l. I have tried my hardest to follow the instructions in the book but to no avail. I cant seem to set it up. Ive tried running a php page and nothing shows up.
I have Windows ME. CAn u help me please?
> Since when were good things complicated?
Well, maybe its because my computer isn't very reliable these days, but it didn't work.

Yup. Me. Add me to your MSN:

I'll only help as long as you go to the BT web site and tell them u want ADSL in Dunmow - we need 400 ppl to sign up.
if anyone feels like going thru the fone book ?????.....
All you need to do is open the config, change your directory root, add two lines and restart Apache. It really is that simple!
Anyway, using anything but Apache won't work properly. PHP behaves differently with different servers. Only slightly mind, but differently enough. It was driving me crazy wondering why a script wasn't behaving correctly until I realised that it was because I *wasn't using apache*.
I mean, hell, even ANDI can set one up...

From there you can download everything u will need to install PHP on to ur computer. U will then just need to run the .exe file and once that have done that u can just start running the scripts. d:)
1) Followed instructions in book and used disc to install it, DIDNT Work
2) Tried the maunual at PHP.net tried it, but didnt work, im sure i was doing something wrong, could figure out what it was.
3) Tried various other sites (no urls)
Solution: ???? I dont have a clue!
However i am goin to get some hosting with PHP4 supported which will be good but i still need to install it on my pc.
I will have to find sum 1 in my area who can help! Anyone here from Dunmow in essex? Help Please!
