No smaller controller for Europe, because...

"Microsoft UK's Xbox PR manager, is Nick Grange, and according to him, UK gamers don’t want this slimmed down pad! He said that, 'Our research has found that people like the standard Xbox controller in Europe, so at this time we are not planning to offer an alternative'."

What research was that then? How many of you registered Xbox owners were consulted about this?

Thought not!

So where did this research take place?

Japan have it, the US has it... why not Europe? Are we seeing signs of MS not caring too much about the Euro market?

The controller is fine.
Stop whining and wait until you get puberty, then you wont have to use little baby hands.

I was disappointed at the news of the controller S not coming here. I mean I'm fine with the normal controller, but I was going to buy a bunch of the new controllers as alternatives for anyone that prefers them in multiplayer.

I guess I'll pick some up when I'm in the U.S again. Hopefully one bonus should be that they'll be cheaper there for me to buy. Thank god for my yank gf. ;-))

I agree with Wookiee about garbe123, he's always forcing his views on others. We complain about Ninty and Sony fanboys, yet we have an Xbox fanboy right in our midst!

Anyway, about the pad. I personally like the pad, as I'm quite tall, my hands are big enough to find the controller comfortable. However, the pad is too big for a lot of people, and anything MS can do to get more people to buy an Xbox (such as release the smaller pad) is a good thing in my view.

To be honest, I'd probably buy one (or maybe 2) of the smaller pads anyway, as a couple of my mates have small hands, and they'd need the smaller pad for multiplayer gaming.

What does seem to be strange though is that MS apparently did some moarket research asking us if we want a pad that we've never been able to try out!

Europe being left 'til last in the console market is no new thing though, it's been happening ever since the days of the Nintendo/Sega war.

The U.S people have big chunky hands so why do they need a small controller?

It doesn't matter what console or what company...Europe always comes last :-(

But staying on the boob theme - have you never heard the expression "anything more than a handful is wasted" ? :-)

I've got a Gamecube, and the controller is lovely!

I think - with respect - people are missing my point.

"Move to Japan" is a throwaway comment. The fact is, Microsoft have already designed the smaller pad and it is on sale on every continent except Europe.

As Tom says, they SAID that they would listen to European gamers about the wants and needs, and they are not doing it so far.

They claim that their research shows that we don't want the pad, but in truth we haven't been asked. You may love the standard controller, but never having held the smaller version, how do you know that you wouldn't like that more?

A poll on a website is irrelevant - UK customers can't possibly comment on which they prefer if they haven't been given the opportunity to try the alternative. Sure we can import, but we shouldn't have to.

I am not the first person to have formed this opinion about you, and once again you're saying that we're all wrong and you're right.

As for listening to other people's comments, I don't believe you. Or if you do, you don't absorb them. Elsewhere you have commented that I dare tell you that another version of Max Payne was superior to the Xbox version when I said no such thing!

> Do you think you should drag me down to feel as morbid as you do?

I'm not trying to do anything of the sort. I am voicing my concerns over what I perceive to be Microsoft's failings with the Xbox, and instead of saying something like "I understand, but I disagree", you're telling me - and others - that we are wrong.

If nothing else, you shuld think about what you're saying more carefully before you hit the Post button, because a lot of people seem to be taking your posts the wrong way.

> I get on with most people in here

From what I've seen, many people find you agressive and confrontational.

> You use your notable status to try and over power others

My Notable "status" has nothing to do with it, as I've told you at least twice before - but yet again you completely overlooked or ignore it. I'd say the same as a Newbie. In fact, next time I reply to you I will probably use my alternate login so that you can't bring it up.

So I'll say it again as learly as I can: MY NOTABLE STATUS HAS NO BEARING ON WHAT I SAY IN THESE POSTS. Got that?

> I can have my opinion just as much as you can.

Did I say you couldn't?

That is something I have been considering for a while. Certainly no-one can say that I'm giving up on the machine easily, though.

I did try it first, and I have ALWAYS maintained that the pads are too big. The fact that a smaller pad was due was part of the reason I decided to get one, and tolerate the cumbersome brick supplied with the machine on a temporary basis.

As for games, I expected far more, better titles to be released in the months following the launch. In three and a half months, there has been nothing but a handful of shoddy second-rate titles. (Remember - this is MY opinion, though even they guy in my local Game store - who also has an Xbox - has said to me that the Xbox is CURRENTLY being let down by the poor software backup.)

> There are other pads out on the market to buy and they are developed

I never buy third-party peripherals, as the build quality is inferior. As much as I dislike the SIZE of the Xbox pad, the build quality is excellent.

> I am not like Wookie says I am

Don't single me out. Others have said the same.

I respectfully and politely suggest that you think a little more carefully about the wording of your posts. If people aren't led to think that you're refuting their opinions as wrong, you won't get such a severe backlash.

The XBOX controller is slightly too big, but like boobs: too big is always better than too small....[PS2 controller].
The GameCube controller is the perfect size, but overall it's too plasticy like silicon implants - thus it's a bit tarty.

I find it very comfortable to hold and I find it the easiest pad I have ever used and I agree I find it the best pad ever.

Importing will be expensive but it is possible so there you have it Wookie.

Neil, you are lying? The BEST you've ever used?

Anyway, surely you can import US/Jap pads... they should work fine over here?
