It's no secret that Sega have given up on consoles. I'm not sure why they gave it up and went multi-format, maybe they thought the Dreamcast wasn't doing well enough or they might have just had enough, but they're far from dead.

Since Sega did give up the console market, Nintendo fans have been blessed with Sonic Advance, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and the amazing Super Monkey Ball. All good games in their own right, also Virtua Striker 3 will be released very soon and other future releases like Super Monkey Ball 2. I could go on about titles forever, but the point I'm trying to get is that Sega have friends. Before the consoles retirement they were foes with Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony, but now they are allies. Okay - so Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo may not be the best of friends, but they all get games from Sega.

There is also something that has recently happened that means Sega can make games that they used to be competing with, which recent event is this? The Triforce Board. Since this Sega's Amusement Vision have been given the job of creating F-Zero. Could this mean secret racers like Sonic or baby from Super Monkey Ball? Who knows, but since this, the possibilities have become a whole lot bigger. But that makes me ask "What Next?" A Sonic adventure with Bowser as the boss? Mario going up against Knuckles? Or even a Mario Kart-Monkey Ball cross? Nobody knows. But with Link making an appearance in Soul Calibur 2, my mind has opened up and these things have become more than minute possibilities.

But what if Sega made consoles again? Is there a law that they're not allowed to? Nope, but if they did, they'd have the best console of the lot.

The reason being is because Sega make games for Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony and surely one of them would return the favour. Plus with the news that Nintendo are doing a Sega too that would mean Sega would definitely get some Nintendo games. This would mean that Sega would get 'the' best console of the lot, because what makes a console great? The games.

Sega may be able to do the impossible, making a 'One format' console. But there's still the problem of if other companies would make games for them. Some might, and others might not, but we may never find out.

Sega don't make consoles
But if they did
They'd be the best consoles in the world...

Yeah, I rekcon that all the great games they're doing will bring them a lot of money, and with so many ideas for the future, they could be on their way back.

But how much money they'll need is unkown.
And they may still have outstanding debt problems - if money was the cause.

If Sega did stop making consoles due to money problems, I'm sure they'll be making more with brilliant games like Monkey Ball and future releases like F-Zero, so in time, they could go back to making consoles...

Nice ending there, and i'm sure Sonic Rav will tell you why they no longer make consoles. I think it was to do with money or something??

Anyway... I like the ideas of using other charcaters in SEGA games - just like how Link COULD be in the next Soul Calibur game.
The possibillities are endless there, and it could start something big for the future of gaming!

Everyone in the Nintendo forum has already said about how great it would be if Sonic and co. were in the next Smash Bros. game, and i'd also like to see how Sonic would do in Mario's world, and Mario in Sonics.
And we've all heard from Mr. Miyamoto himself that Sonic could well be in the next Mario Kart game!!

One thing I know though, is that SEGA and co. should never run-out of ideas for new games featuring their best stars while they're still 'friendly' with the likes of Nintendo and Namco.

The Triforce is a good thing - bringing people together (like BT)!

And no, nothing's stopping SEGA doing another console except themselves and maybe money. And if they were to do one, I think they should do another handheld - the GBA needs competition!
