"That said, it becomes extremely important to take care of your Pikmin because of the tight 30 day schedule. Unfortunately, in game time each day is only about 15-20 minutes long depending on cut-scenes and pauses. So in the main adventure only amounts to about 10-12 hours of gameplay. This is perhaps Pikmin's biggest flaw. It rushes you through these lush environments forcing you to complete the game in about 10-12 hours. Ever worse the last two of the five environments are absolutely spectacular, packed with puzzles, and we need not spoil the awesome last boss for you. Why is that a bad thing? Simply because you don't want it to end. Pikmin is such a fresh, new kind of experience and you are rushed through it."
So it forces you to finish in about 10hrs?
Balls to that.
I think I wasted my money on a Gamecube to be honest, Star Wars is good but I've done it and the Monkey Ball thing is simplicity itself.
And nowt being released I want.
That'll learn me to ignore my instinct and return to my own vomit.
Without wanting to start a silly console war type thingy maybe somebody should point out to you Dringo that game playing is about that - game playing, not PS2 playing or GC playing or X Box playing.
I play games, and I play games that I enjoy, be it GTA3, GT3, Tekken, Pro Evolution etc on PS2, Rogue Squadron on GC, Halo on X-Box, Mario Kart, Goldeneye on N64, Soul Calibur on Dreamcast.
To state that PS2 is crap, X-Box is crap unfortunatley shows all the intelligence of an amoeba. They are all good consoles in their own right.
It's the games you fool and each has good ones to play....
Exploring and freedom is more my thing. I like to just put in a game and be free in a lush virtual world with loats of things to interact with, having fun etc.
That's what keeps me coming back to a game more then anything else after I've completed it.
"Playstation 2 is crap, the 5 minutes i played on the X-box was crap."
Real good, Dringo.
I like short games. They're fun, that's all they're supposed to be. Could never make them though... I'd never really be satisfied with making a crappy little 10 hour game thing. Not my style. Play them, enjoy them, but no way in hell making them.
Skies of Arcadia has entertained me for, and I am not kidding, about 300 -400 hours. I complete it slowly each time, going through and enjoying myself, and I still want to go back and play it again... because the story and characters just captivate me. And, it's damn fun.
That's the sort of game I'd want to make.

I know it is unfair to attack the X-box as 5 minutes is hardly enough time for a fair assesment, but the PS2 has GTA3 and errr GTA3 and that is it. I don't like the PS2 it is crap, i've told everyone why i think it is crap before so i won't go into it just state it now.

I just love these lucid well thought out posts.

Playstation 2 is crap, the 5 minutes i played on the X-box was crap.
We bought Gamecube as a family Console and it sits downstairs where everyone can use it. To be honest the launch line up is not really aimed at the older gamers. Apart from Rogue squadron we have got Luigi, Monkey Ball and SSBM, all games which can be played by the kids quite easily by themselves. I know there are some "older" games coming but at the mo they are few and far between.
The PS2 is my console for the likes of GTA3 etc and sits upstairs where I can use it in the evening without affecting evryone elses tv viewing.
I can see why you are dissillusioned with at the mo but with the likes of Resi being exclusive, if that floats your boat you might want to hang on to it.
I can understand you thinking it's not for you, by the same token, I bought the GC because it's the only one out of the GC, BOX and PS2 that does offer me something my PC doesn't. I'm not saying any of them are crap, but the direction they are heading is on a low level intercept with my PC anyway. And with the way the XBOX is built, it just begs for a decent PC emulator to be developed by some 1337 german hacker...

Other people should try doing this, before they insist that anything is crap.
