Is there a difference to what these mean???

On the Pipex Demo, it lists a 56k modem being able to download a file at '56Kbps' but my ADSL connection shows a readin of downloading a file at '52.6KB/S'.

Is there a difference??? I thought there was, but I'm not sure which means what. Could someone explain to me please?

1 bit is 8 bytes. Therefore, 1 kilobit is 8 kiloBytes

Filesizes are always measured in bytes, I'm not sure but I think connetions are measured in bits. Or maybe not.

56Kbps means 56 Kilobits per second.
52.6KBps means 52.6 Kilobytes per second.

There are 8 bits in a byte.

If it has a lowercase 'b' then it is bits; uppercase is bytes.

e.g. Mb = Megabits; MB = Megabytes
