1. Nintendo dropped the price of the N64 by £100 3 months after launch, and offered NO compensation for early buyers. A few people got a free pad if they phoned up and complained enough.
2. What's all this crap about "a console has to be succesful in Japan"? Er, MegaDrive anyone? It's wasn't a flop in Japan, but it wasn't far off. The majority of the units were sold in Europe and the US, yet that survived and did amazingly well over here.
Just a couple of facts you might want to remember. It just seems a few of you have "selective memories", that's all...
That is all.
PS2
Final Fantasy 10
Mad Maestro
Rez
Xbox
Halo
Amped
Oddworld
JSRF
Rallisport Challenge
GameCube
Luigi's Mansion
Wave Race
Super Monkey Ball
Star Wars
Super Smash Bros Melee
As you can see, there aren't exactly loads of (in my opinion) must have titles, and saying that MGS2 and GT3 are must have is very stupid. I hate them both, meaning they can't be must have, cos somebody (namely, me) doesn't like them, therefore ensuring that not everybody will. Phew...
> There are more games worth getting than Halo.
Couldn't agree more. I don't even like Halo (FPS just aren't my thing) but I am still extreamly happy with my Xbox, and find lots of games that I want.
Problem is, now, in *my* opinion the games on PS2 are starting to slow down. This is probably just me, as I have a select interest in games. I don't like FPS so I won't like MOA frontline, and for some reason, I just don't like FF games.
But I'm not selling it! If I do, a game that I want will come out! Like stuntman, if it ever releases.
Yay! I can be byisttttt. I can be byisttt.
*slap* Oww!

Good point. Everyone was slating the PS2 at that point, and then GT3 was released. From them on it was quality game after quality game, and it hasn't stopped. Also, the lack of any competition last year meant that the PS2 was extremely successful, at least sales wise. First impressions don't always count...
I also agree with VenomByte, the only game on the GC I'd consider buying at the moment is Roque Leader, and of the ones being released I like the look of Bounty Hunter and MOD: Frontline. However, but of those are being released on PS2 as well.
All comes down to opinion, I s'pose.
It's the "we do it because we can" thing again. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should do it.
Part of the appeal of consoles against PCs is that you can play multiplayer simultaneously in the same room with a lot of games, soething the PC has lost in recent years. But for internet gaming - don't go there. The PC market owns it, has more power, cheaper games, and a massive established audience. Anything the consoles come up with is just trying to be trendy.
There is nothing actually wrong with it but you just pick on it as something to have a joke about.
XBox has some crap games, but Universal studio Park tour (GC) and peter Pan (PS2) exist so other console fans can't talk. If your a die-hard PC fan then your a nerd anyhow so leave your views unheard. Oh, and you also have a load of tripe too.
Each console has weak and strong points; no console is generally better than the other because each has a nu,mber of gems and each has a load of rushed 'games'.
More than anything, I'm defending a company thats actually showing some ambitions in bringing gaming upto a new level. The PS2 will of course have a HD and online gaming, but the fact that everyone will have to buy all this stuff seperate will slow its chances down of really putting forward a good online plan. Nintendo's online plan is pretty much non-existant and wouldn't exist at all if not for Sega.
Yeah we all love the games like MGS, Mario, Resident Evil. But overall, how many more times do we want to just play the same games with little difference ? Out of the 3 consoles, I see the X-Box as the only console that has not only the ambition, but the ready capabilities for games designers to make games without any hindering to their imaginations.
2D - 3D was a big step in gaming and now look what we can play compared to the days of the likes of the Megadrive/Genesis and the SNES. The real direction to go now is both broadband and using the likes of a hard drive to be able to do new things with games. Blinx uses the hard drive in a great way as does Project Ego. Its not just about cutting loading times and making a big memory card for game saves, its about giving designers the chance to add new innovative ideas into their games.
Apparently theres 300 games being made for the X-Box right now with 200 due out in time for Christmas. You have excellent third parties backing up the X-Box such as Sega, EA, Capcom, Konami and Namco along with many others.
Of course some prefer the GC games, etc, but what I don't see is how they can blindly call the X-Box crap when it quite clearly isn't. Most of the time, I see posts in the X-Box forum slating the console and I don't see one decent arguement against it.
I've you've got it, use it. Simple.
:-D
