"ALL X-BOX FANS READ THIS!"

This is me, a serious X-Box fanboy and it is not a stupid consoles war post I just want everyone who is either into the X-BOX or gaming in general to read this, I know it is long but please read it, you will finally see why we are here for a long time!

The X-Box can not be compared to the GC becuase the X-Box wins hands down. Instead of bringing out say 1 good game a month and the rest are a waste of time the X-Box is bringing out 3-4 amazing games a month and between now and christmas this will increase. I can't believe that the X-Box has only been out just over 5 weeks in the UK because the games we have seen and played so far win GOTY before the end of year has arrived. Many complain about ports, nut just look at how the PS2 mashes ports up, take Max Payne for example, the X-Box version is the best version of the game yet and it is not a biased opinioin as most people share this opinioin and on the net reviews rate the game higher or equal than the PC version and the only reasons why it was faulted was becuase it was too short (nothing to do with the port) and no level editor (port problem). Then take the PS2 version:

No quick save
Load times are shocking
Graphics are very poor
sounds are dumbed down
DOLBY 5.1 is not apparent
Frame rate is terrible

There we go 1-0 to the X-box!

Then lets take SSX Tricky, the PS2 version was good, the GameCube version was appauling LOL! and once more the X-Box version wins once more due to popular opinioins and amazing graphical enhancements (mainly in the lighting department) to the other 2 version. The GameCube version thined all the characters down to make them look stupid, the graphics had been dumbed down for some strange and unknown reason (well it is known can't handle em) and it was rated the poorest out of the lot.

Before you jump the gun forget the, " Nintendo wanted to create a console ideal for games and nothing else ", becuase it is utter rubbish! The GameCube contains neither DVD playback nor a Hard Drive which means no internet play and no option to download extra levels or characters and game Demos. Lets all face it even the PS2 could do this (no offence to PS2 owners it is my 2nd favourite console and I hope it does well) and this goes to show that it was rushed out to compete as they are even supposedly adding a DVD player to the console (emphesis on supposedly) and if they had thought things over properly and not rushed the console out then they might last maybe a day longer than the N64!

Forget the Resident Evil rubbish, read reviews on www.gamespot.com and www.ign.com to find out that the game is nothing ultra special and is just an update in the series and look at it this way, the PS2 new that the series was coming to an end after a great career so they sold the franchise to guess what people... NINTENDO, LOL! All Nintendo seems to do is rehash old games from other consoles of both their own and other consoles. Anyone can bring out old games, Microsoft could just release:

Shenmue 1
Jet Grind Radio
Virtua Tennis 1
Virtua Tennis 2

But instead they have had the brains to bring out the latest addition like:

Jet Set Radio Future
Shenmue 2

Microsoft are giving gamers what they want, no-one wants old rehashes of ex PLAYSTAION ONE games! LOL, face it the GameCube is a console that is not going to survive and it should have been called an N64.2!

All these games that you list as great games:

They are all old (bar Die Hard) and I bet you now maybe 2 of them will score 80% in reviews, just stop giving out all this rubbish about, " we have the best games " when clearly the X-Box list makes me drool just looking at it! I could go out and list a few X-Box titles that will only appeal to a select audience and say, " look these games sound good lets go promote them without any evidence or facts "! I know one GameCube owner that owns all 3 top consoles and a great PC that will admit that the GameCube is utter kids play and wishes he never bought one, but all you on here are so imature that all your arguments stem from the same thing, RUBBISH!

The GameCube has not had this impact, maybe Star Wars: Rouge Squadron has had a small effect but nothing like Halo and the other games listed above and THEY WERE ALL LANCH TITLES! With over 200 amazing games promised before Christmas on top of the having the worlds most powerful graphical and sound engine that all you Ninties could only dream of and we have the Worlds MOST POWERFUL games console and with the games to back it up! THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN ARGUE WITH, NOTHING! How can you complain about all the games out and coming out when they are truly mouth watering.

This is a desperate plee to just SHUT YOUR MOUTHS AND KNOW YOUR ROLES! Because in here we are sick of all you GameCube owners trying to convince yourselves that you have made the right descion! If you think you have then I AM PLEASED FOR YOU, YES THAT IS RIGHT I AM PLEASED FOR YOU, IN FACT I AM OVER THE MOON! But just stop coming into the X-Box forum with naff arguments and sales figures beacuase they are all wrong! The X-Box is picking up sales in Europe and Japan, in America it is alreday doing amazingly well and in Austraillia they had to increase shipping by 41% just to please consumers with the Worlds Most powerul games console!

Whatever you come back with I am not interested, I have held off with pure power facts because all you Ninties deny them BEACUASE YOU ARE JELOUS but if you want em I will give them to you. As IGN quote themselves ' WITH OVER 70 GAMES OUT AND 200 PROMISED BY CHRISMAS MORE AND MORE GREAT X-BOX GAMES ARE BEING CONCIEVED EACH DAY'!

As 'THE ROCK' himself would say 'THE X-BOX IS THE BEST THING ON THIS SIDE OF THE PILLOW SO ALL YOU NINTIES GO LAY THE SMACKDOWN SOMEWHERE ELSE AND KNOW YOUR ROLES JABRONIS'! Hey guys - after spending most of this morning having a cookie or two and a glass of milk whilst reading this thread I have to say one thing:

Thank goodness for human nature. Garbe has managed to vent his anger - make a point (eventually - I'm not being sarcastic just pointing out that it took a good few posts) and then took it on himself to write a good "inside the life and mind of an xbox owner" post which I thought was very well balanced. And all the ninties, xbox fans and PS2 fans managed to have a ruck and then realised that playing games is more fun than arguing about which console is better...and this is what I am going to have a little think about in this post.

It's a strange thing console loyalty, I mean it just shows how powerful and important a gaming experience is to all of us gamefans. Do you think we would put up with all this fighting and sl*ggin off to defend our washing machines after buying a hoover or dyson? HELL NO! It's not worth it for mundane things like that.

This brings me neatly on to my next point:

Every console has its ups downs and incredible gaming experiences > THATS WHY WE DEFEND THEM SO VIGOROUSLY! Now compare this to say...and I may be on dangerous ground here but bear with me...girlfriends (I'm male - apply to boyfriends if you are female). You may say x was better than Y but if all of them made you smile, cry, whoop for joy, get very angry or just sit there and think "b*gger me that was fun" then you wouldn't respond well to any criticism directed at that person.

So ninties, x's and PS2 dudes need to remeber that it is the experience that counts. I had a Atari 2600, commodore 64, Famicom, master system, mega drive, game gear, saturn and then SHOCK HORROR a Playstation (not sarcasm again - just a surprise becuase if you look at the previous list you will see mostly SEGA). But I realised that I kept going back to all my systems becuase the experience was different on every machine, from the graphics to the controller to the gameplay - maybe I had a favourite...and that was my loss, I got blinkered into one camp and forgot about the others, thus missing Mario world, Pilotwings, Donkey Kong, fzero in the 16 bit days. In the 32 bit days I loved Sonic, Virtua fighter 2 (tighter control will never be found anywhere else), Nights into dreams - but missed things like tekken 2 (WOW - very differnet to VF2- remeber what I said about experiences?) FFVII, Crash (how cool were those games? Differnet to sonic but the game designers were after differnet things when they designed them, but any gamer worth his salt would have thought long and hard before he chose one or the other because both games were sheer quality).

Soooo where am I going with this huge post? Well I have shown that we should not think it is only loyalty that makes a gamer defend his/her machine, its the experiences that created that loyalty. See the progression there? So if we look at the root of this loyalty, (the fun we have with the game) then it's easy to see the answer...we choose a machine becuase we have fun with it, but saying another machine doesn't have the same appeal is silly - because it is clear that it does! So stop being blinkered, liberate yourselves from a single camp and try different things. HALO rocks. There I have said it. But Super Smash brothers does as well, and so does MGS or Wipeout. These are unique games to each system and denying YOURSELF - the gamer - a chance to try each of these becuase of stubborness is just plain silly. If you can't afford multiple systems or don't have a mate who will let you sleep on his floor and drink all his beer whilst you finish a game at his, then just understand that there are things you are missing on those consoles and there isn't anything you can do about it except go and try them. If the experience was good enough then you would probably go and buy the console so you can repeat the experience.

And that is why we sould not sl*g each other off: we are all after the same thing - the experience of a good game. It's obvious when a game is crap on any system - and here is the kicker - a group of gamers will all agree that a crap game is crap ON ANY PLATFORM. It's when the games are good that we try to find out which one is better instead of saying they all have merits. Some may say "...but you have to have a heirarchy, there must be a game that is the best or better than another" and this happens naturally. But remember, reviewers look at the experience they have with that one game alone, and AFTER it is scored they offer alternatives. They don't let the alternatives affect the greenfield score they give a game, becuase that would not be impartial. It's a hard job - because seeing a game for what it is rather than saying "lordy, Final X 3 is better than this heap" is sooooo difficult.

So milk glass empty - hmmm, need a beer now that we have rolled closer to six pm. I look forward to some intelligent ruminations on gaming as a hobby and which vehicle you choose to have the experience on and why, so we can all have the benefit of knowing that x game on x system is fun - so we can look forward to giving that game a go.

I had Pro Evo on the PS2 and its a good game. :-) Thing is, I would have chosen ISS 2 ahead of Fifa but I've some reviews that were pretty disappointed in it.

As I said I usually don't go for Fifa games but reviews have actually been praising it and the new skills and stuff are looking quite good. Bah, see how things go I guess. ;-)

Have you played Pro Evolution soccer? Doesnt really capture the passion of football and the commentary is crap but technically it is easily the best football game around at the moment.

I found ISS2 to be mediocre.
Although I must say when it comes to footy I'm very fussy.
I have never played a truly great footy game.
Never.
No footy game has captured the true essence of football: the passion, the intensity, etc....

Don't normally buy Fifa games now but that Fifa World Cup 2002 looks pretty good. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. ;-)

Glad to hear you're enjoying ya console, by the sounds of it as much as i'm enjoying my Gamecube.

So has every console in the world I got my dc on launch hasn't "conked" out once It depends if your lucky or not PS2 has had alot more problems with its batches than the xb

Yes. We should, then we should go outside and play. Be creative and constructive, not sit around staring at T.V screens all day. Actually it was just a referance to the anoyance of windows, my DC crashed a lot, and it had windows on it..
And of course you have a valid point Garbe and its good to see your not an idiot and you do know of grammer. Just remember that for the moment at least, the statement is 'I hope the X-box will keep up with the GC and PS2 to keep the game industry producing better titles'. :)
