Metal Gear Substadance? GTA Vice city? Legend of Zelda: Advance? Doom 3?
Well and this should shut Strafex up, it was Metroid Prime... there its good ok!
Perhaps Retro will have gained enough experience to try and combine the best of third/first person action for a sequel.
It sort of makes sense.
This is a prequel, set before the original Metroid game (on the Nes).
This is set back when Samus was still a weakling and unable to perform jumping moves properly! ;-D
aka. you.

Yeah, and all the magazines were raving about how Donkey Kong 64 was Donkey Kong Country in 3D. It was only after playing it deeply that I realised that it wasn't.
Super Metroid in 3D would not be a FPS PERIOD.
What the play testers are describing isn't so much familiar gameplay as familiar atmosphere. This will include classic Metroid music, sound effects, enemies... etc.
BUT, it if TRULLY played like "Super Metroid 3D" should, then Samus sould be platforming in the third person.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that this makes Metroid Prime a bad game, it's just not Super Metroid in 3D.
Read my topic again.
It clearly describes how you make a loyal 3D incarnation of a 2D platformer. And it ISN'T in first person.

'oooooooo - Zelda and mario looks so GAY! I'll never buy them'
Then when the game is actualy ~played~ they love it!
> Mario Sunshine is great!

A few people who had hands on with the game have said its absolutely brilliant fun..
I love Nintendo.. no really. I am going to propose to her next year.
*cue tumbleweed*
Bond games...? (bah, they'll never be as good as Goldeneye!!!)
Oh, and I think there's some Die Hard game, though I'm not sure if it's all FPS it may be a mix and match kinda game with racing sections, etc...
At some stage XIII and PD0 will show up, but i can't think of anything else. Except metroid.
