If you haven't already heard, the online adapter and hard-drive unit could be more affordable than expected.

According to PSM2, Sony are apparently considering a rental scheme for those who don't with to pay for the add-ons.

A small fee will get you the new equipment, with Sony upgrading or repairing units for free, just as Sky or NTL would do for their set-top boxes.

I meant to post this last night, and don't currently have PSM2 with me; I can't recall the prices given, but will post them tonight, unless anyone else does so beforehand.

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that it's a very interesting development.

How long have sony been going on about these two add-ons? a bloody long time, I mean if the PS2 had a hard drive a few years ago, most of the games today would have been able to store a ton more data on.

As for the modem, well apart from a bit of info now and again, sony still haven't given out the most important infomation yet. Mainly when will the add-ons be released, how much will they cost, how much will it cost to get connected, which service provider will provide the servises to get online ect...

It would help if sony said something for a change, its been ages sinse these items where announced and yet we still know very little.

It should be as simple as that, yes. I have NTL broadband also.

They've been testing with Telewest in certain areas of the country, and Telewest/NTL are essentially the same service.

Nope, you can use whatever you have. Sony will only rent the hardware.
