Someone who deserves to be notable, and won, decides he doesn't want to be.

People shouting about rigging and tactical voting.

I was here before all this Newbie, Regular, Notable stuff too. Its nice to have the 3 different GAD's now though. ;-)) Both ways of doing things have their ups and downs. I mean, the election thing is fun in its own way - especially on voting day when your hoping that someone might put you forward. Think I'm making that campaign my last now though cause they tend to get ignored anyway. Plus I wouldn't want to really buy my way into a notable place - even if it is the only way I'll ever get into the position. ;-))

Ive been here for about 8 Months but am still classed as a newbie as I only write when its needed, I dont respond for the sake of it, or create topics just to get my word count up - whereas there are people who have become regulars after a month by writing a load of gibberish. The ranking system doesnt bother me, but the actions of other people in an attempt to become regulars is stupid, so maybe a little more quality control should be utilised.

I've suggested a way to make it fairer in the SR site bugs forum. I'm not saying it's a perfect idea, but it might be worth a look if any of you are interested.

I'm all for equality... I wouldn't mind if we scraped the system.

But being voted Notable is a sign of respect. It's not respect when you cheat, or vote through popular opinion.

if you're worried about the page looking boring, perhaps people could have a choice of different colours to use on their names.

For a while this would result in a flood of Gold names, but it would soon calm down if there was no status gain for posting with a gold plated nick.

Rav, I was about back then as well, and the page did look boring. It did seem better, but then maybe I'm just looking back with Rose Tinted specs?

At the end of the day, the vote is just a bit of fun. You should really be noted for what you post, not the colour of your name. I think some people just took this election a little too seriously.

Oddly enough IB, I was here before the reg/newbie system, and things were indeed far better. But then again, the rooms were smaller too and the GAD prizes were less. Perhaps there will always be spammers whatever we do?

Either way, I'm still not happy about Monkey Man not taking his title- he earned it more than I.

Isn't it amazing to think that 2 months ago I said that my posting was going to dry up as I approached A levels and then off on my round-the-word trip during summer... or maybe I'm just not doing enough revision!
