Well I've got important stuff on my PC like my debit card details and I don't back anything up on CD because I'm lazy too :P And formatting takes long.
Oh and I use Firefox/Mozilla instead of IE so that in itself reduces my risk from a lot of website based exploits. I can't be bothered with windows updates for things that have never affected me in the several years I've been using XP, so why bother now? I've got nothing of any value on my computer anyway that couldn't be replaced easily. I back up important stuff onto either CD or onto my mp3 player, so I don't have anything to lose. Even if someone did get into my computer, what would they do? After they'd read through my computing coursework, listened to all my obscure mp3s and had a game of Tribes, there'd be nothing left for them. If they did decide to screw up my computer then I'd just format my 4 gig partition with the OS on it and reinstall. Doesn't matter... does a computer good to format it every so often anyway.

I have a Norton firewall, Norton AV and Safeguard. I do all of the security updates which takes me about 5 minutes to do. Better to be safe than sorry don't you think?
But I don't ever do those windows security updates and all that rubbish.
No really, yes I see what you mean.
I still think you're paranoid.
> You get that happening a lot do you?
No but that could be because most computers are protected now. Imagine no computers were protected, I'm sure hackers would spend a lot more time trying to hack into someone's computer.
