I know everyone is going on about the consle war but does anyone actually have the figures of how many machines each company has sold?

Anyway, I don't think it matters how much a console sells, as well as a good console doesn't go under...

So MS will carry on pouring millions into a dead horse? I know they're American, but surely even they know when to call it a day?

Its like this MS aint going to let the Xbox die. They have the money to keep it alive. After the Xbox price drop in Europe the Xbox and PS2 are running neck and neck in sales. And after the price drop in Australia it over took the PS2 in sales. Yes i Japan things are going a little rocky to say the least. But MS always knew they was going to have a tough time there. In America it is doing just fine. And with the price drop it is just things are just going to do better all around. The Xbox aint going anywhere. It will be here until MS decides to release the Xbox 2.

I cant see xbox going under they will pump more money in and do everything they can to make sure the xbox doesnt get a bad reputation because of microsoft, they especially dont want microsoft to get a bad reputation(which they wont) they have all the money they need if xbox fails and they dotn make a single penny they could still try the same thing over 100 times with the amoutn of money they have behind them(bill gates) (rich b****r)(no offence meant!!)

If every console sells alot then I expect each CEO will go round to eachothers house for a good ol' knees up :-)

I don't think it matters how many each console sells, as long as none go under like the DC. The sales are probably most important for PS2 and X-Box:

PS2 - if they sell poorly it will be humiliating aswell as a massive boost for it's rivals

X-Box - if they sell poorly we may not see an X-Box 2. Or more games. Or any more financial backing.

However, if I know Billy half as well as I do then he won't give in at the first hurdle - or something like that!). And by the way, I don't know Bill Gates at all :-p
