Actually 99% of Sun readers (almost 100,000) said they wanted the death penalty reintroduced.
So what do you think? Should they bring back the death penalty and free up some prison cells?

Killing is ending someone or somethings life, murder is doing it illegally.

Yes, one is pre-meditated killing and the other is...oh, hang on...

That's because there are so many petty criminals in there, not because of the type that would normally be sent for execution.

They should call it Running Man. My moneys on Arnie!
That would actually be amazing.

They use to do that. It was called Australia. Now it's so good in Australia that 1000s that to emigrate there :)

Nope, there's a difference between killing someone or something and murder.
Although I can see that it isn't much of a punishment compared to life imprisonment, we do have a teeeeensy problem that is overcrowding in prison.
Also, EU membership requires the abolition of capital punishment. As much as I'm not a big fan of the EU, I reckon the benefits outweigh the other nonsense it brings.
Nice to see that the Sun's readership are just as reactionary as ever, I reckon that aside from this and when the Soham murders and other terrible things happen, they're not quite as bothered...
In general, though, the Death Penalty doesn't work because we can't trust the Justice System to get it right and then surely if you're killing someone for murder then you should kill the person who executes them too?
Besides, half the people who would be given the Death Penalty would just want it, you're giving them the easy option. I say just make prisons less delightful for lifers. People who say they want the Death Penalty just haven't thought the whole thing through.
Then again, human rights issue...
