My humble MR2 will never achieve those speeds without serious work, but I don't care as I'll never drive that fast. If I want a seriously fast car then I will buy a seriously fast car to start with. If I can get my 0-60 time down to 5 secs I will be a happy bunny, and thrash all the corsa owning rude boys at the lights.
I wouldn't mind a TVR, but the handling is somewhat lacking compared to other sports cars. Anyway, for the price of a new TVR you can get a second hand Lotus Carlton, and have change for a Cossie too!
> A Lotus Carlton
Good call! I remeber when my dad used to drive a bog standard Vauxhall Carlton GL about 10 years back. How I wished it had the Lotus badge and obligatory black paint job. Those beasts were the fastest production saloon made until a few years ago i understand! Absolutely brilliant. I want to own one too!
Someone auctioned one on E-Bay a while back. I almost bid, but then i remembered that i'm a student and can't afford that sort of thing! damn it.

I have two cars I hold far above anything a Skyline has to offer -
A Lotus Carlton and a Jaguar XJS Lister Convertible Le Mans. If you don't know about the Jag, it is a 603 HP, twin supercharged 7.0 litre beast. It looks gorgeous and you can get a 1991 H reg one for £35,000!
Better start saving that cash.....
I WILL own both in my lifetime. I will also own a Sierra RS500 and an Escort Cossie.

Good choice! A limited edition to mark the end of an era...
Now I've wiped the tears from my eyes I can go back to the Autotrader to find me a replacement vehicle..damned rich people and their Skylines..mumble mumble...
But as this seems to be a car thread that people are actually reading - £7 grand to spend on a car - what would you choose? I have an MR2 at the mo and as it's fooked! I can either get a turbo engine put in, new suspension & the works or I can get a new beastie to play with - any suggestions people?

This is an exact quote from Top Gear or Driven or something. Jeremy clarkson, Is that you?
