No, for most people, £30 a month is far too much! Multiplayer gaming via the internet will never become big in this country until most of the population has broadband internet. It's just crap at the moment.

If you wanna get it, fine, but most people can't afford it.

P.S I don't want any, 'I've got broadband' messages popping up. You'll just make me cry :(

Good point Strafex.

In all honesty, if Sony, who have put millions into online development, don't release online options in Europe, then how do we expect Nintendo to?

Almost the only reason Ninty are doing any online work is that Sega have forced them to by making PSO for the GC- Naka-san said at the GC's unveiling that PSO will be the first online game... even though Ninty didn't have any ideas about online games!

Chances are it'll be run off the back of Sega's current PSO network anyway.

Point taken.

You can see that they're not making this sort of mistake with the Braodband/Modem adaptor though.
They've got their options open but aren't jumping in and wasting money until they're certain that they can do it properly.

Strafex, my point was about Ninty pumping millions into the 64DD, and then only making 100,000...

In America an online 64 add on was released by a 3rd party company that let you surf and send emails.

But online gaming is just pants in this country

Well yeah. The N64 COULD have gone online and had all those neat extra's. It didn't in the end because it wasn't practical but it COULD have if it had wanted too.

Hence future proofed (in the area of online gaming atleast. The N64's once state of the art graphics card/processor weren't quite so future proofed...)! :-)

started a topic on this a little while ago....
still hoping for perfect dark 0 to make the jump to online bliss
:)
but we in europe allways seem not to see the "future proofing" add-ons that our american and japanese counterparts take for granted
:(
maybe tho eh?

The n64 had an add on port for the 64DD that made it future proof too....
