Anyway there is a general excitement amongst my fellow comrades with many yet to buy their cube's but will. Is this feeling felt elsewhere, the Gamecube won't fail but will the sales pick up when there is only 3 Nintendo titles to be released prior to September and 2 of them are being released in just over 2 weeks.
> PS2 sold 40,000 in its first week (resticted supplies yes)
The PS2 actually sold 68,000 consoles on the first day.
167, 000 official pre-oreders were made through Sony's official allocation system, but this figure was only met by Christmas due to the massively high demand far outstripping Sony's supply.
Nintendo had to expect a good launch anyway, all the Nintendo fans sick fed up of people enjoying their PS2s and rubbing it in their faces raced out ond bought these things on day one, despite the lack of any killer Nintendo produced games.
The Gamecube has succeeded in week one on the basis of the continuing success of the PS2. Whether or not the Gamecube continues to sell well once all of the die-hard Ninties have their consoles remains to be seen.
Before anyone accuses me of being absolutely biased against Nintendo, you should know that I owned and N64, and I bought a Cube on launch day. I love it, but I still prefer my PS2, there aren't any games on the Gamecube that come close to MGS2 or GTA3.

Erm the X-box is Internet Ready, i suppose Internet ready consoles are the ones that are doomed, must be a curse.
