Ok, for the past 4 months my band has been in the studio recording 14 tracks for our album.
Now we're a loong way off from being finished (string quarter yet to be booked etc for 2 tracks) but I will, by the end of the week, have a very rough mix copy of 10 of the tracks.

What I need is an unbiased (ie not in the band) ear to listen and suggest things like loops to be put under the main music, little effects etc, sounds.

Just some little things that would make all the difference (think of the tiny sounds buried in OK Computer).
We're already using a Theremin, dobro and some other bits and bobs but I'm after constructive ideas.

I'll mention you in the credits or something, stick you on the guestlist at the next gig, some stuff like that.
Let me know if you think you can do that (and some music experience might be beneficial but not essential)

Cheers Aliboy.

It's not really "I like that" or "I don't like that" that I'm after, it's someone that can sit there and think "Well, that section there could do with a cello or maybe a..." that sort of thing.

I'm not sure if I'm being clear enough trying to explain, it's late and I apologise if I'm making a cack-handed attempt at this.
Basically, to give you an idea, for homework I have been handed about 15 CDs ranging from Gomez to The Gorillaz.
Not for the sake of listening to the tunes as such, but to hear if there's a sample or an instrument or a bell-chime or something that enhances the track - ideas to spark off an "I know.." moment.

Just extras to push it beyond 4 blokes and instruments.
Like I said, on Mrs Jones we've got a Theremin buried in there, another song has the sound of a gas cylinder being depressurised and that "Hisssss" is used as a loop under the drums.
Got 4 most fit girls coming in end of this month to lay down some strings on one song and a 3-piece brass section on 2 tracks.
That sort of thing.

I have no music experience, but a wide taste and I know what I like and what I don't. I'll quite happily give you feedback on what I think.
If you want that is. There is probably someone more suited but I'm here if you want it.
