"Virgin Ears required"

Ok, for the past 4 months my band has been in the studio recording 14 tracks for our album.
Now we're a loong way off from being finished (string quarter yet to be booked etc for 2 tracks) but I will, by the end of the week, have a very rough mix copy of 10 of the tracks.

What I need is an unbiased (ie not in the band) ear to listen and suggest things like loops to be put under the main music, little effects etc, sounds.

Just some little things that would make all the difference (think of the tiny sounds buried in OK Computer).
We're already using a Theremin, dobro and some other bits and bobs but I'm after constructive ideas.

I'll mention you in the credits or something, stick you on the guestlist at the next gig, some stuff like that.
Let me know if you think you can do that (and some music experience might be beneficial but not essential)

I'm sure we could come up with some constructive thoughts here at SR Towers if you want to send me through a copy. Myself, Snuggly and Hybrid have all been in bands and I've spent a bit of time in studios so maybe we'll have some bright ideas.

But I must admit, when it comes to arrangements I'm a bit biased. I love cellos and would be in danger of putting them everywhere if I had some studio time and the necessary budget! Does anyone know how much they cost to buy?

Have recorded my own album so I think I would know roughly what you wanted. I'll mix my ideas straight in and send you back a CD to see if you like it.

Dunno why, but mixing the album is one of the best bits I think.

Whilst on the subject of your band, I don't suppose you're doing a London gig between Sunday the 19th and Wednesday the 22nd of this month, are you?

Sure, no problem. I listen to a load of rock ranging from indie to metal, and I also know what I like. I'll give it a go if you want.

I'll give it a go! I play the piano, keyboard and the drums (badly!) so I have a small amount of musical knoledge.

Even if I can't, It would be nice to hear your music! Where can I buy the album!

I'd like to try and help you Goatboy, I think I'm varied enough in music to know what would be required. Also, my brother is doing a music course in college, he's also been on the radio ;) so I've had to deal with listening to him in my house all day. Just tell me what I could do to help, and I'd be glad to.

Heeeeeeeeeeey, I've got a lot of musical experience, plus I've never heard your band before - so I would be Virgin ears. Give us whatever and I'll give you some of my ideas - maybe even record them over you songs. Cool - this is something I've been waiting for someone to ask me to do forever!
