The word's subsequent translation, is likely the cause of much of the contempt with which left-handed or "sinister" people are treated these days.
But leftys don't really care, and have little to worry about, given their contributions to mankind.
I can tell you all the good things, such as american astronaught teams contain a number of left-handers that is about 5 times their national average. Left handers being generally far more creative and inspiring than the average righty.
But rather than the good things to convince you to be nice to leftys, i'll give you this:
Jack the Ripper, and the Boston Strangler were both left-handed. As were several other serial killers through history, the likes of Napoleon Bonaparte and Ivan The Terrible were also left-handed, along with a number of other feared historical rulers.
Respect the lefty, and be afraid.
How many leftys we got here?

History teaches us that humans used to be roughly 50% left handed. This is reflected in the type of tools that historic man used, all of which are clearly ambi-dexterous. It wasn't until the Romans came along that a preference to the right-hand came along.
And in answer to your query, it is not the fact that we are born in a world designed for righty's that makes us different - were that the case, we would merely adapt to use our right hands better. We are naturally more creative, because we utilise our brains in a totally different manner. This doesn't make us better, it just makes us different.
Right handed people are typically more analytical and mathematical, making them better accountants. Whereas leftys are more creative, have better use of peripheral vision, and make better artists.
That I am left-handed AND an accountant, clearly shows that although left handed people in general aren't superior, I personally AM superior.

Are you stroking a crying dove with your left hand?

LOL!
Hadn't thought about it like that, had ya? Oh. You had. Well done then. Smartass.
I am a righty, but everything else other than writing (eating etc) I will always use my left hand.
Not ambidextrous, cos I write like a spaz with my left hand.
Just a bit odd.
Except for when I m********e.
