My GC came with a composite lead and a Euro-SCART adapter. I think the adapter cannels the composite's stereo into mono. Would I get better sound and picture by ditching the adapter? Or is there another cable I can get that's even better?

I went into EB and they had sold out of official cables, but I nipped into game and they had one left! I got the official RGB scart scable for £19.99. It really does make a difference. I borroed my friend's rogue leader and it really made a difference with the picture and sound. So, what games are compatable in 60hz mode?

Today I got the official RGB cable (from Toys r US) and the picture difference is amazing, colours are more vibrant and picture is loads sharper. It is well worth the £19.99 asking price.

60Hz mode does work with the cable in the box, providing your TV is NTSC capable, strangely some TV's will display 60Hz mode in black and white though unless using an RGB cable. I guess Nintendo are just plying safe saying you need RGB cable to play in 60 Hz. Plus it is extra sales for them.

IF you do but an RGB cable though, dont forget that on most TV's only Scart socket 1 is RGB capable, this may be in use if you have Sky Digital. You can purchase Scart switch boxes though.

The Gold Plated Scart Lead gives you the best picture and sound quality - according to Joe King (Staff Member).
It's all to do with the fact that Gold is a better conductor of electricity then the others.

But an RGB cable would give you an even quality, but you need the 3 coloured holes on your TV for that.

Righty, I have the official SCART cable, and it gives an RGB connection to your TV (the best possible on an analogue system.

This give a sharper picture and access to 60hz modes in games if your TV supports it. Rogue Squadron on 60hz mode rules!!!

I am etting the official SCART cable today. It will definately give better picture and sound quality, because if you think about it:

1) There are more pins in the official one, so you get a better connection.
2) Why would Nnitendo sell a SCART cable if it wasn't better than the adapter for the composite cables.

So, yuo will be doing the right thing by getting the official scrat cabel.
