I picked up a pre-owned copy of Dropship today, and will give it a go when I get home this evening. This is mainly to Wookiee and other owners of the game - what`s it like? Is it any good? Are the controls manageable? I kinda made an impulse buy there for the first time in a while :D

Anyway, time to save for FFX.

Absolutely! (No pun intended.)

It's a 'near future' combat sim. You start out as a rookie pilot for the United Peace Force. The Dropship's (there are several types) are basically huge fighter/bomber/transport craft, which you fly in various different areas of the world to bring down various criminals (drug barons, terrorist organisations etc.)

A lot of the missions are air-to-air combat, similar to (but better than, in my opinion) Ace Combat 4. But not all missions are the same. In most you will be the pilot, in others you are in charge of other things - like a huge gatling gun - taking out enemy missiles before they're launched.

There's also a good mix of mission styles; in some you pilot the Dropship to clear an area of enemy aircraft, then you set down at a designated landing zone behind enemy lines, the back of the Dropship opens, and out comes an armoured vehicle. You then have to drive on rescue/recon/attack missions, before making your escape back to the Dropship and flying off back to base.

As you get further into the game, missions become much harder, with sections against the clock - e.g. shutting down enemy radar installations before a squadron of slower Dropship's arrive to deliver reinforcements. These are tough, because there's no saving in the middle of a mission, and many of the later missions are in multiple parts.

It really is a brilliant game. As I said earlier, I don't think you will be disappointed if youlike this sort of game. If you liked AC4, you should absolutely LOVE Dropship.

It's basically rescue missions I think win combat on the ground and in air.

Wookie,

What is you aim in this game?

is it to do with war or something?

Im hearing too many good reviews about this game but im
a bit wary of buying it having not like other space ship shooting
type of games (i.e. zone of enders)

It's an absolutely BRILLIANT game, but be warned there are some rock-hard missions in there.

There are several training missions that ease you in to the controls, but they're really well thought out, and become second-nature in no time.

I certainly don't think you'll be disappointed, unless you really hate this sort of game.
