I picked up a pre-owned copy of Dropship today, and will give it a go when I get home this evening. This is mainly to Wookiee and other owners of the game - what`s it like? Is it any good? Are the controls manageable? I kinda made an impulse buy there for the first time in a while :D

Anyway, time to save for FFX.

I might have to get this game, I am amazed with the replies that it's got. The only thing I can't understand is, why was this game kept so quiet?.

Yeah, its a great game, but the difficult of it must not be underestimated. There are a few very tricky missions in there, I got as far as the 3rd campaign (snowy) and have to take out a sam corridor, I still haven't figured out how to do it and so haven't played it for ages. But Its still a brilliant game, the air to air combat is more close range, non of that shooting down planes you can't see boblacks. Plus the mission wookiee mentioned with the gattling gun under the dropship is great, very INCOMING.

After a few days testing... I agree with Wookiee and Turbo. Its a brilliant game. I can`t believe I let this one go by. I only got it because it was a cheap second hand game, not realising what potential it had. The game, and the manual, box and all the extras are in perfect condition, so it feels brand new, and on top of that, its a top quality game to play.

I`ve done the training missions and the first couple of missions in the campaign, but haven`t got much further than that. One thing I`d love to know is whether or not there is a free flight mode anywhere. Is it an unlockable bonus? I thought the way they put restrictions on your flying zones was fairly clever, in that it wasn`t the "invisible wall" method, but I still felt a little limited. I was kinda hoping there would be some missions or areas that you could just fly around for ages.

The mission objectives themselves seem very good so far, and as Wookiee said in his post, they get more and more varied as they go along. Already I feel like I`ve played multiple roles, rather than just "destroy this, then protect that".

Anyway, excellent game... pick your copy up now!

Agreed! FANTASTIC game! Best flight sim ever, in my opinion. I agree, the missions are solid. I still haven't done the last one! Tips on tactics?
