I've just finished watching Awakenings. It was on Channel 5, not sure if any of you have seen it?

It contains the best acting I've ever seen, no question.

The film starts Robin Williams and Robert De Niro and is based on a true story about a doctor working with chronic patients, patients that have diseases such as Parkinsons etc.

It is set in 1969 and is one of the most moving films I have ever seen.

Robin Williams plays the doctor, and although he acts very well, he pales into insignificance when compared with De Niro. Some of you probably know that I'm a bit of a De Niro fan anyway, but I don't feel I'm exaggerating here.

Williams administers a drug to De Niro who has been in a state of near paralysis for the previous 30 years. He has been unable to walk, talk or move at all. The film shows the drugs working, De Niro becoming almost "normal".

I won't continue as I don't want to give anything away, but I really urge you to see this film if you can. It's in no way a feel good film, so it's probably best not rent in on a saturday night to watch with a few beers and a pizza.

But please try and watch this film, you won't regret it.

Cheers.

*coughs and sticks chest out*

Well, I didn't cry, but there are a couple of really moving moments.

But I didn't cry at the end of Forrest Gump, so that's ok.

"No disassmble Johnny 5!"

Used to hate the bit where he got beaten up in the second film. But I was about 5.

I can list the amount of films that have made me cry, but I'd rather not

I have a hardman image to keep up! (yes, the list is that big)

I keep up my hardman image when around the lads/lasses, but as soon as I'm watching a film by myself, the tears start flowing

*cries*

Top film.

De Niro rocks, especially during the period when he begins degrading again, and has the shivers constantly. Haven't seen that film for about 6 years, but it was damn good

I watched this last night too.

Didn't De Niro get an oscar for this performance? Maybe I am mistaken.
Top film though - one of the best I've seen on channel five for a while.

You should be able to get this cheaply, as it's been out a fair while. Good film, though it's definitely 'touchy feely' Robin Williams in this one.

Darn, I thought someone else had bought "The Terror Beneath Loch Ness" as well.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.

Brilliant! As usual the careful and intuitive production that Freeola puts into everything it sets out to do. I am delighted.
