Sorry buddy, but the time has come to put you back in your box. I haven't even had you that long, only since Christmas 2000, when Lisa picked you up second hand, knowing how much I loved Nintendo games, and that I had access to a range of my brothers games. But in that short while, there have sure been some good times, and, I suppose some bad times too.

Donkey Kong 64 was the first game we played together, and great fun it was too. Lisa also liked to play it, and Malibu loved to watch it, especially the DK rap at the start of the game. This was, of course, before the days of Georgia, and I guess I started to ignore you a bit when she came along. Sorry about that, but she needed me more than you did. Still, you were always there for me when I needed you. A quick blast on a football game was a great pick-me-up, when the pressures of fatherhood were bringing me down. You were there with me when China lifted the World Cup, and when DK Junior ruled the tennis circuit it was you I shared the moment with.

SOme of our greatest times were undoubtedly when we stuck a few more pads into you, for some real multiplayer laughs. Remember the time there were about 8 of us playing WWF No Mercy? We played a 40 man Royal Rumble, and handed the pad over every time we got knocked out of the ring, that was such a laugh! Then there was Mario Party 2. This game caused so many fits of laughter from me, like the time we were playing the team game, where one player has to flap the wings, and it was all a bit much for one player, or the time I used the ghost to steal stars from Lisa, and she sulked for the rest of the evening. How about playing co-op Perfect Dark with Lisa, that was always a good laugh, wasn't it? And what about the Goldeneye death matches? Couldn't be beaten, could they? Heh, great times.

Of course, it couldn't have all been good. I mean, there was Tigger's Honey Hunt. I made the wrong call ther, and I'm sorry. I thought Malibu would like it, but it was way too basic to enjoy. A simple 2D platformer, that was way too easy for an experienced gamer like me. Maybe we'd be best not to mention Pokémon Stadium? On the GameBoy it was a great game, and though it looked great on the N64, it was just lacking so much, which was a shame. Anyway, let's not dwell on the bad times, they were so few.

It's a shame I won't see some games through to the end. Jet Force Gemini will never be finished, neither will Perfect Dark be, and I'll never get to find all of the hidden secrets of Majora's Mask, but no, there's no point hanging on. It's time to let go. It's time to replace you, time to move on to pastures new. They may laugh at you, and call you a flop, but you never were to be, you brought joy and laughter, and I'm thankful for that.

So goodbye old friend, and thank you.

Pah, four consoles downstairs and one upstairs next to the PC. It's possible and with the aid of careful planning it all goes into one TV. (admittadly, I did scratch my head for a while.)

Still, I don't have two children as well...

We will always have the memories.
Sometimes I even play my ancient Master System just for old times sake. I can still complete Sonic 1 - 'still got it...'

Well, I gave my brother my N64 about 2 months ago and yesterday I packed away the Dreamcast.

There was a think layer of dust around where my once proud games sat.
Took a good 5 minutes with the hover.

Anyways soon that empty space will be filled with a nice new GameCube and will sit next to my hi-fi and Gameboy Advance.

Farewell, old generation consoles, I will always remember you...

Why not just get a Scart Splitter box thing from SR???
With one of them, you can connect upto 5 consoles to one TV - all via their Scart Leads. And I think the other allows you to connect 2.

I'm gunna get the 5-way one, and make sure that my N64 is still connected to my TV along with my future Dreamcast and GameCube consoles - and maybe also my SNES!

It's sad to say goodbye, and I am frankly not ready to do that with my N64 - as i've only got half the games I want for it!!

Trust me, I would if it were possible, but with VCR, DVD player, and speakers to accomodate, I'll be struggling to accomodate the Gamecube properly.

I might even need to go buy some speaker stands to free up some room!

Big pee-stained old fool you are!

Trust me, in a few month's time you'll only be getting it out again, making room for it NEXT to your GameCube. Take my advice, make room now.

I'm pointing to the MegaDrive on top of my amp that nearly overheated through being on for 3 days yesterday now...

Meka, you make me sick... all that cushy stuff it for girls...

:D :D :D :D

Can't you fit two consoles under the TV?

I'm going to miss cartridges. Really. The way you could just chuck them anywhere...

Discs suck... although you can skim them... I might buy some PS2 or X-Box games to skim across the room at people.

MGS2 in the head, 10 points!

No! Don't leave it altogether! I made that mistake with the SNES, and am now missing the likes of Super Mario Bros 3 (the only Mario I liked) and *ahem* Super International Cricket. That's why, despite considering selling the N64 a countless number of times, I'm staying put with it. After all, where else could you play Perfect Dark, Banjo-Tooie and Ocarina of Time (without a fan droning in the console)?
