Wow, this is like the bit in Good Will Hunting where they start quoting sutff at each other, trying to outwit their opponents. As a staff member, I would suggest this - chill. Life's too short to spend all day arguing about whether you're a better poster than someone else, look out the window, put on some music and post interesting topics about games and stuff.

But yeah, knock off the Latin.

Kindly see my new thread with regards to this. I look forward to hearing from you, with your specific concerns, so that they can be dealt with in a mature, and adult fashion.

No, if you check your facts you will see that we are against the attitude you show, not your arguements

There is no 'totally' about it. You may have a better grasp of language etc, but in no way does that make you a better person

Once again you miss my point. Re-read and you will notice that my point was that whilst I could speak as you do, there is no point when most of the audience would become disinterested.

I'll keep replying to you people, simply because you deserve it:

Yes, my opinions differ, yes I express them. It is because Goatboy disagreed with my opinion that this argument began, kindly check your facts.

I have said too many times now that I don't think of myself as totally superior, I won't bother doing so again.

If i use better language than most, it isn't to impress, but to help get my point across using language that feels comfortable to me. Apologies if it stresses you too much to bother reading it.

Ha, obviously your not reading correctly - my youth was spent in poverty, and I couldn't have had a "classical" education if I had wanted one. What I know of Latin I tought myself, but knowing a little Latin doesn't make me a different person, and the phrases I quoted were not meant to impress, but to put my point across, which you completely missed again.

I told you before I don't put people's points of view down, just the arguments they use to support them. Everyone has a rigt to their opinion, and everyone has a right to know when the arguments they use to support them are flawed.

Where exactly have I highlighted someone's specific shortcomings? You're digging deep for argument to keep your posts long and meaningful now. Just say what you feel, I'm grown up enough to understand you.

Stop repeating yourself please.

I've never claimed to be any such thing, it is your own flawed profiling that has made me look such.

Its simple:

You == everyone else.

Your opinions differ? Great, express them.
Just don't make out that you are God almighty putting others down and trying to impress with fancy words and phrases. We could all talk as you do but whats the point when 75% of people on here are younger than us and would become disinterested after a few words?

Yes, you stand out, but for all the wrong reasons.

I don't quote latin to look superior. I'm sure someone here could post in a language I couldn't begon to nderstand, so for the benefit of those who just don't happen to know, I translated everything, since I only refer to the mottos in english anyway, but it's nice to know where they came from.

Can I just say that that comment of your did make you look a bit silly, and lacking in contentive argument...

All I'm going to say Bartender is this:

Crack as many Latin phrases as you like, having had a classical education I find them trite and yet more posturing.
I understand people like you perfectly well, and being 29 myself and well beyond teenage years, find your level of studied nochalance to be amusing, if a little cliche.

Have all the opinons you want to, but try to not put others down.
For one that trots out such phrases as "knowledge is power" etc, I'm suprised that you seek to validate your arguments and opinions at the expense of others.

To claim superiority by highlighting the faults/shortcomings in others is not the behaviour of a well-meaning and intelligent person.
I did laugh at your attempted profiling of myself through a couple of short posts to you, but please, restrict yourself to demeaning others and posting however you see fit.

Post what you want, but do not attack others and remain in your ivory tower - it negates anything you may say.
Feel free to flame away or fill another post with cliche Latin if it helps, I'm done with you.

I wish you all the luck and hope being a smug kid works out for you.

its not a chore at all, it brings me no end of amusement

tut, the mispelling of the word "the" in the thread title to which you refer was entirely on purpose, due to the tongue in cheek content therein. the word "teh" is widely used on the internet for such purposes, sorry, it's just one joke that you didn't get.

I never actually went on the offinsive, besides which, i've stated several times that I have never said that I wasn't a hypocrite.

I did nothing at all offensive before you started flaming me, if you don't have the mental capacity to "get" my sense of dark humour, then unlucky.

So did I, before you came along on YOUR high horse this morning. I hope that you too, claim not to be a hypocrite.

I've smiled with every post before you joined this thread. Bad you.
