Well, why not take a small lead from the people who plaster their lives over web cams, and sacrifice a bit of my privacy for... why am i writing this again?
Uh-oh. Not done any running since the last entry, exams and stuff. But i played 2 1/2 hours of basketball today - i felt pretty out of shape, my legs were heavier than normal, things don't look good.
Only about 3 months to get to the necessary level. This isn't going to be easy... what am i doing?
: )
Now i'm at a tricky point. Maybe for the next 2 weeks i'll have someone to run with, if the person who roped me into doing the marathon in the first place gets their act together. Not been running with her once yet : S
Anyway, 2 weeks from now, if that far, i'm going to have to start running alone, short of finding someone on a fluke. Don't look forward to it, we always used to talk while we ran. Made it much less of a drag. Not sure if i'll actually enjoy running on my own. At the moment when i do go alone, it's not to bad, but that's because i'm not doing it often. Ah, we'll see.
Have to start measuring my distances too. Need someone with a car to check the mileage really.
Ah, this is going to get hard soon.
You should warm up yes, stretch those muscles, work those joints! :0)
Very important that you do actually.
On a similar note I played a big (and long) football game the other weekend for the first time in a while and the next day I was hurting all over. Waaa!
After trawling through loads of old posts, i've found the diary : )
I've had a bit of a lay-off for the exams, and i'm not done yet, but after this morning's land exam, i felt i needed to go run, just to unwind and think a couple of things through.
Damn, it was hard. Okay, it was a hot day, and i've no doubt lost a little condition while i've been stuck inside revising, but i was out for about 55 mins, going a bit slower than normal, and i was hurting.. badly. My obliques were as bad as my legs though, oddly. Maybe i need to start stretching them before i go, or perhaps i just need to get them back into activity.
Whatever the problems, i get the feeling this whole thing will be pretty tough over the next few weeks.
If i thought that one good thing would come from the mess that is my cube order it'd be that i'd go running when i would otherwise be playing the likes of super monkey ball and star wars rogue leader. Hasn't worked out, as i've been playing enough basketball to wear myself out too much to run any further. Still, pushing through the tired legs barrier on the basketball court must be helping my cause. Maybe i'll run tomorrow.
I actually mean that. Unlike my running partners, i think about mid september, and failing to complete the marathon, and it motivates me to train hard now. Just not that hard!
The apparent lack of any interest in this thread did make me consider giving it up, but then i figured who cares about you guys? It only takes a couple of minutes and when i've actually done the marathon, it'll be great to be able to look back at all the work i put into it now. So the thread stays.
You'll just have to keep ignoring it, if that's not too much effort for you all.
: P
Been running and playing basketball recently. Also, i've now officially registered for the marathon.
Don't think i'll be doing too much exercise today though. It's gamecube time baby! (Hopefully)
Went to the gym again earlier today, working on the leg machines before playing a bit of basketball. Man, this is tireing.
Still, given the 5 week lay-off, my jump shot was reasonable. Will have to put in some work to get back to standard there though.
Bolton v Arsenal tonight. Going to watch from the snooker club. If i can will my legs to stand me up and walk there.
At the gym this morning, ran a couple of k, rowed 2k, and used the main leg machines. Then did some sit-ups and skipping too.
All hard work, but i'm far happier to do that kind of training than spend a couple of hours on the unforgiving pavements. Except i don't really like the gym, having to wait to get to the machines, and it's a bit public.
Still, a good workout, and i will need to build some more leg muscle to cope with the training.
Tomorrow i'm going to start playing basketball again, easing my way into it after the broken thumb lay-off. Hopefully the basketball training won't interfere too much with the marathon stuff. The marathon will have been and gone by the time the season starts anyway.
