Shock news. FM lands a job working full time in a warehouse. Starting on Wednesday 1st May.

Shock news in that this is a slight lifestyle change for someone who's only played games for the last 5 years. I mean, what am I gonna do? Sure, the extra money is great because I can buy more games, but working 40 hours a week kinda cuts into my gaming a bit, so although I can buy more games I can't actually get around to playing them.

I mean, I'm used to 40 hour stints with the odd break for Pringles when playing Final Fantasy 7, or all-nighters trying to break that lap time on WipeOut Fusion, or vanishing from society for a few weeks to go hunting for those ruddy dogtags on Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty. Not to mention all the redeye sessions I've put in to levelling up my characters in online RPGs.

I now have to cram all this into 5 evenings and 2 weekends, which is going to be hard. I can't exactly quit this job because my CV looks like the Yellow Pages anyway.

I figure the way I'll get around it is by playing 'quick-fix' games weekday evening (lap or two here of Gran Turismo, mission or two in GTAIII, bit of record setting in Burnout maybe) and save the fully immersive stuff like Silent Hill 2 and Final Fantasy IX for the weekend.

But then Deus Ex is about to hit the shelves, not to mention Final Fantasy X, not to mentions TOCA Race Driver and Stuntman and Virtua Fighter 4 and (dare I say it) Britney's Dance Beat.

The only way around this is by getting more quick-fix pick-up-and-play instant-gratification games to fill my evenings during the week. So what do I get? Fantavision and Rez?

I need answers fast, before I ring up work on Tuesday night and tell them I've broken a leg or something so I can get on with an Endurance race in Gran Turismo.

Bah... don't be normal, damnit! There are too many normal people on here.

What does your job actually involve, apart from being in a warehouse... or did you say? Driving forklift thingys around?

That's my life story for the last 20 working/non-working years. However, I'm determined to stop doing it this time and stick at a job, because games are relatively expensive compared to not working and there's so many I've yet to get. Plus it stops my CV from turning into a business directory.

The irony is, it's the job which will ultimately end up getting you sacked.

Think about it:

You play games
You get a job
You have money to buy new games
Because of this, work days are taken off "ill"
The boss hands you the pink slip...

See? It's one big, scary cycle

erm...I think it was that petrol station place. Then my CD ROM drive buggered up, and when we got a new one it wouldn't recognise the CD. :S

Anyway, must go now, my head hurts and I need sleep.

One of my mates Dad is a policeman or prison officer or something. Anyway, he injured his back and has been off work for the last 8 months... WITH PAY!

Definitely worth looking into!

Makes up for it with brilliant gameplay though. Lasts a while too.

Deus Ex isn't actually that impressive when you finish it. Don't expect some huge end sequence.... you get told enough to know whats been going on but thats it.

The multiple endings are a good idea though (depending on how you do the last level)

Really?? Fantastic stuff, my current PC could only just run it and I never managed to finish it. Hopefully I can get it on PS2, and then get a better PC and become the proud owner of the sequel.

Also, fourty hours!? Although I love my games, I usually can't go for much longer than a couple of hours.

My weekend will run from 3:50pm Friday to 10:pm Sunday. I figure one 54hr and 10min session on Final Fantasy X should take care of that.

Good point. The problem for me is ensuring that my gaming time that I do have is 100% quality time. I'm not so sure about Fantavision now. Maybe I could just fritter away a few hours on the training mode of Virtua Fighter 4 instead...

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Wonderful...
... and so easy-to-use even for a technophobe like me. I had my website up in a couple of hours. Thank you.
