I wanna buy Ocean's 11 on DVD(region1) but is there much difference in the picture quality between a Region 1 DVD and a Region 2 DVD?
I know there is *some* difference but is the difference so big that I might as well wait for the Region 2 release.
Before you ask..Yes my player is Multi Region and I have tried a region 1 DVD on it before but that was an old Cartoon(rock on Transformers) and it looks exactly the same as my Region 2 DVDs.
anyways enough babble. Please someone help.

None of which applies to DVD movies!

It's not mine - I borrowed it off a mate.
NTSC=Better refresh rate, smoother presentation
Conclusion=NTSC is better, why? 95% of games come from the NTSC format and get struck by large borders and 17.5% slowdown in the PAL conversion.
I rest my case :-)

Also alot of DVD players are multi regional but require a hack of some sort, Mine's a 4 figure number which also gets rid of the Macrovision protection :-D

As far as I know,
NTSC was originally released in America due to the large demand for colour TV sets, though it doesnt really work very well (engineers claim NSTC stands for 'Never The Same Colour' since the colour broadcast i generally not the same colour recieved... that and they had a crap sense of humor)
They were going to release NTSC in the UK however we were working on our own colour TV system at the time, and it was thought that if they released the quick-fix NSTC then later a sold a decent colour TV at a slightly higher price, that the the general public may go go for the cheaper lower quality NSTC or that there might be problems with so many different standards being used, or that people would feel like theiy were being ripped off, essentially that it would be more trouble than it was worth...
Anyway... R1 DVDs will display in excatly the same on a PAL TV as a R2 DVD would... The Data on the DVD itself is excatly the same on both R1 and R2 DVD's, the difference only occurs when the player converts the information into the TV type, which occours in the DVD player itself, not the DVD...
I didnt actually need to type any of the crap about NTTC and PAL, but its raining, and I'm bored.

Mate, why didn't get the R2 of NBK? I just wondered. Either way, the NBK DVD rocks, with the alternate ending and all ;D
