I reckon this would have made a great GAD attempt, but I just can't be bothered to write a big thing, look up stuff etc. etc...

Well, there's been this big furore about gaming, and there was recently a flight sim announced with something to do with 7/11 and the war on terrorism...but I really don't see the big deal.

Yes, it was a terrible tragedy and thousands lost their lives...but sooner or later, games will be made about it.

This was a HUGE event, and has lots of possiblities for stuff like flight sims, shooters etc.

In World War 2, millions died, the whole WORLD was involved in such bloodshed and now, games based around the events are two to a penny (or some other cliched phrase about there being lots, I dunno, it's late).

If anyone could grab me the name of that aforementioned flying game, I would be greatly appreciative...

Do you guys think it would be morally wrong to develop games based on the WTC incident?

The games could be based around WTC, and the War Or Terrorism, but would add in bits (sorta like Wolfenstein, only less robotic Hitlers).

WWII games are regarded tasteful, why not WOT games?

Thanks possum :-\

Basically, the game could start with you hearing there was a terrorist attack planned and you are sent as a police officer to NY. There, you find a warehouse or something where they are training these terrorists, and you do standard FPS stuff until you get out of the building. Then you could be told to make your way to the WTC, but you see a plane overhead. It starts shooting at you or something so you are forced to go to the WTC and...*BOOM*

You somehow escape, and wake up in a hospital ward (cut-scene) and then say "I'm going to get rid of terrorism" or something. Then it could be like MOH, only in the desert. And with new technology.

Does anybody know that damn flight sim?!

There were several other plane crashes between sept 11th and the milan accident. I don't recall any of them involving "planes-into-towers".

Maybe i missed some big news along the way? hmmm

Otherwise, a september 11th related game is an interesting concept, but i agree with Mojojojo, there aren't any tasteful or exciting angles. THe only one that would work would be a war/stategy/shoot-em-up based on the war on terrorism in afghanistan. Games producers could do something similar anyway though, just not set in afghanistan, avoiding the risk of offending anyone...

To save you the embarrasement, Sepetember is actually the 9th month not the 7th. So it should be 9\11

Ah, but if we lost the tower, then the ruins would get a preservation order and be labelled a national landmark, so we'd rake in the tourist money.
