My CD-R refused to open, so I stuck a bent paperclip in it, and it slowly opened.

lol, I tried it on my CD-RW and it tried to go tighter again before re-opening :)

My DVD writer actually came with a key-type object (plastic handle, long metal shaft) to stick in that hole to open it in emergencies.
