Before I start ranting:

Yes, I'm a Notable.
No, it makes no differene to what I'm about to say.
No, I don't consider myself better than anyone.
Yes, I may be over-stepping the mark.
No, I don't apologise for it.

While no names will be mentioned, this post is aimed at specific people who use this particular forum. You know who you are.

For chrissakes will you people grow up. I am sick to the back teeth of reading these stupid, immature posts and threads insulting other users.

I don't mind joke or light-hearted topics, but if you have a problem with another user, deal with it. Don't litter this forum with your trash talking and name calling - we are not fecking interested in your personal childish squabbles. If you absolutely must spew your venomous bile at someone, sod off and do it elsewhere - you are not wanted here.

You don't look big, clever, funny, or cool - you look like a moron, and will be treated as such.

This forum is for discussing PlayStation consoles and games. If it's not about either of those subjects, DON'T POST IT HERE.

The SR staff are already keeping an eye on some of the people concerned, and personally, the sooner they ban you the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Buck up, or buck off.

Yeah that's a good idea but then the whole forum would have to be changed and there would be more offshoot forums for voting. Plus the way the system is at the moment seems to be working fine, ie JAT - Newbie - Regular - Notable.

It's only the minority we are talking about here, Jat - Newbies, who are being stupid and getting themselves banned due to immature behaviour on this site/forum.

As I think we all know there isn't a simple solution, SR expect that people who register here are here for one thing and that's to talk about gaming/consoles/pcs etc not to have childish squabbles that can be sorted out in the playground with a good fight.

Yes everyone here is entitled to their own opinion but I've already read one post from yesterday which got out of hand, I got the joke as soon as I read it and knew it was meant that way, others took it the wrong way and all hell broke loose, don't believe me then go have a look in FOG (chat or prime not sure) it's about the GC sales this week.

Here`s a suggestion for you. You´re saying that if SR made it possible only for regulars and notables to start threads, then you would lose the input of some allright newbies.

Why don`t the SR make it so AND there would be a place where regulars and notables could VOTE whether to grant some newbie a regular status (provided he/she has shown that he/she deserves it!). After that everything could remain the same, banning would still be possible and so on. But then threads could be made only by regulars and notables. Newbies worth it would just receive their regular status based on the voting of regulars and notables.

This system is very common among all kinds of clubs and societies where older members` approval is needed for a rookie to become a full fledged member.

I didn`t really give much thought to the idea, so maybe there`s a catch someone will quickly point out, but it just came to my mind.

Well I've yet to see any of the recent batch of people who got banned come up with long and pointess posts.

Long posts usually means a bit of thought processing has been required to string more than three words together to make a sentence, ok some may talk in text talk or chat room talk but at least they've managed to put some words down and ideas that people can reply to.

5 or 6 word answers to posts I would call spam and pointless.

The PS2 Longest Thread has been used by some of us to actually talk and discuss issues which may help one another, this all changes in the evening when trying to have a conversation is just ****ing impossible because as soon as you've posted an answer to someone it's actually disappeared from that page!

I know, I tried to have a chat with MoJoJoJO the other day but gave up after two posts as we both couldn't find what was being said without having to trawl back pages to find the answers.

Back to this problem again then... The trouble is if you stop newbies from posting then they just go away and the place will not grow.

Maybe the notables could be given some kind of moderator type role, surely the SR staff can't sit and watch every post that goes through and maybe if some of the actual users were able to assist them more, things could be sorted out before they get silly.

The report this post button is really only used for bad language and stuff so that could be used too much if people are not careful, some other way needs to be looked at.

There is a question in the Customer Service forum entitled "Why..." perhaps Goatboys answer could be applied to this forum as well.

Only Regulars and Notables would be able to start topics in this forum, again another idea that has probably been talked about before. This may well upset a few newbies as there have been some good posters appear over the last couple of weeks and it would be a shame to loose their input.

Thanks Jive - I posted a little topic on this in Customer Service to see what SR say and presumably they will come back with much the same - It's just annoying that they keep coming back and ruining this place.

Cheers ..

This is impossible to administer, just think if you've got two people who work at your place, nh and xy. nh is a good poster (;D) and xy is a really cr@p poster and gets banned.

Your both accessing the net through a proxy server so only 1 IP address is logged by SR, SR then look at the logs, see the IP for xy and decide to stop any attempts by that IP from contacting their server, nh tries to login and his IP address is also blocked!.....no more posting for nh!

Now take the situation with schools and colleges, again this scenario above is going to apply as well.

People who dial up using a 56k modem to their ISP usually get given different IP addresses when they connect, ADSL is a bit different, I've had my home IP address since I first got it and that's been about a month now, although if I don't logon for a while I wouldn't be surprised if it changes.

Anyway I hope that explanation helps, it doesn't sort out the problem but I thought I'd help sort that issue about IP's out once and for all.

I completely agree aswell.
I registered here ages ago (although not for the PS2 forum at the time) and after a few posts I didn't bother coming back because of all the rubbish that gets posted here.

There are alot of good members with decent stuff to say (not saying I'm one of them yet) but there is also alot of childish, pathetic behaviour.
