Before I start ranting:

Yes, I'm a Notable.
No, it makes no differene to what I'm about to say.
No, I don't consider myself better than anyone.
Yes, I may be over-stepping the mark.
No, I don't apologise for it.

While no names will be mentioned, this post is aimed at specific people who use this particular forum. You know who you are.

For chrissakes will you people grow up. I am sick to the back teeth of reading these stupid, immature posts and threads insulting other users.

I don't mind joke or light-hearted topics, but if you have a problem with another user, deal with it. Don't litter this forum with your trash talking and name calling - we are not fecking interested in your personal childish squabbles. If you absolutely must spew your venomous bile at someone, sod off and do it elsewhere - you are not wanted here.

You don't look big, clever, funny, or cool - you look like a moron, and will be treated as such.

This forum is for discussing PlayStation consoles and games. If it's not about either of those subjects, DON'T POST IT HERE.

The SR staff are already keeping an eye on some of the people concerned, and personally, the sooner they ban you the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Buck up, or buck off.

See, if I was a moderator, I would ban you for that last post, simply because I'm off for a smoke and feel like lording it over someone.

Christ I'm childish
Sorry

Yep well, there should be strict rules and contract agreements between moderators and SR.

I think it should be Notables as well as some Respected Regulars, just to be fair to everyone.

I wouldn't want to be a moderator, I'm incredibly childish and would ban staff members and myself for fun.

Or I'd close threads that had the word "badger" in, because badgers are evil hedge-dwellers that rifle through your bins at night.

I think moderators would be the best solution all round, but then there's a problem choosing who.

You'd need people who use these forums very regularly and at different times, for busier forums like PS2 and FOG you'd probably need 2 or more people.

Notables would be the obvious choice, but they also need to be unbiased against people and not carry on childish feuds by banning people or closing a thread because they had a little tiff 3 months ago.

Firm rules about what is and isn't tolerated would need to be set ie, no spamming/flaming and then those terms would need to be clarified.

It would need careful planning to implemet properly, but if you look at the other successful, busy forums they have a good moderator system.

As I put in my earlier post - SR do have moderators but I do not know if they are on 24/7. I suggested that maybe the Notables could take on some kind of moderation role to assist the SR staff ? After all they have been voted there because they have some kind of respect from the regulars - don't they ?

is it possible to have some moderators introduced? (like in various chat servers) therefore any silly things can be immediatly taken off by them and the user can either get warnings or banned (for a week or two) to learn them a lesson, the report should then go back to SR and if the user kept on doing it then they would get banned indefinatly.

I use the term 'user' because i don't believe its only Newbies fault it is some of the Regulars which are doing the same, starting up topics about getting people banned of saying something small and insignificant I mean whats the point?

All of us used to be newbies once and I thought I posted some good topics as a newbie and there are still some newbies who do some decent topics.

Therefore I think a moderator should be introduced to look over all and Regulars/notables should be allowed to vote off topics which are not suitable.

Maybe - might work - it's what happens in Fog (Prime) sometimes, when regulars see something posted elsewhere that cant be posted in Prime because of the newbie status they post it quoting the newbies name.

I suppose it will come down to what SR want to do and if they think it will be worth it.

Ok, but the system works fine only as to the status issue. It doesn`t seem to solve a problem of stupid threads. In this case I would suggest that JATs and newbies didn`t have a right to start threads and when they have something important/reasonable to say, they can post it in some thread and ask some regulars to open a separate thread. If such a request has a point then I`m sure that some kind regular or notable would start a new thread quoting the JAT or newbie whose idea it was. After all, you are nice guys, right?:)

Being a newbie myself, I think I`m fully entitled to make such a proposal.

Yes Jive - I know what you mean with that one.

It seems that some people just detach that part of their brain which is titled - Humour department.

Well hopefully the ones that have been causing the trouble will stay away and leave the forum to get back to normal (whatever normal is !)

The best thing for people to do is to just ignore the immature stuff and report it straight away. If we dont post in it then it will go away and if people dont respond when people post in other threads, again just ignore them. Most of us here have a sense of humour and can rise above it.
