Ten years ago the Skedar race had been annihilated in a final push after the assassination of the Skedar leaders on their home planet. The joint alliance of human and maian forces, both in the air and on land made the final push and finished off the survivors of the evil Skedar race. On earth the Datadyne Corporation were also brought to justice and peace was finally restored. The alliance of humans and maians then grew and trade flourished. Advancements in travel, education and science meant that life became better after the troubles on earth. Carrington, with his aim complete retied from his work to enjoy the splendours of peace. The institute carried on training young men and women in roles of combat in case they were ever needed again. No one could have estimated what was about to happen.

‘Who are you?’ the man holding BIG at knifepoint said. ‘Who are you first?’ replied BIG. ‘Hmm, we are resistance fighters; you are one of them aren’t you!’ replied the man grudgingly. ‘No we are from the Carrington Institute, we are as much against the Datadyne as you are!’ said BIG as the man lowered the knife. ‘Why are you here?’ asked the man. ‘We were sent on a mission to destroy a base being built by the Datadyne near here but were shot down!’ answered BIG. ‘Yes I know where you mean, why is it so important?’ he replied. ‘The Datadyne are building it to land Skedar troops here!’ said BIG. ‘What, this can’t be, Skedar, they are most feared around here!’ gasped the man. ‘We have been told to destroy it at all costs’ said BIG as he sat down. ‘Then we must help you on your mission’ said the man as he looked around at the rest of his men. ‘Your help would be most appreciated’ said BIG as he shook his hand. Suddenly they heard gunshots from the bar, one of the men looked through a small peephole. ‘It’s the Datadyne guards’ yelled the men. They grabbed their guns while the team followed another man to their equipment. They grabbed their weapons and ran out of the room and back, through an alley to the front of the bar. A large APC was in front of the bar; a soldier sat on top, machine gun ready. Pringle took aim, shooting him in the head, his body slumped back into the APC, Delta grabbed a grenade and threw it at the truck, and it exploded flipping back onto the street. They ran into the front of the bar, the Datadyne guards looked round in surprise. Under pressure the remaining guards dropped their weapons and put their hands up. The other resistance members came through and thanked the team. ‘Now where is this base my friend?’ asked BIG.

They landed in a patch of trees, hopefully intact thought BIG as he landed on the soft blanket of snow. Although there was snow it wasn’t cold as he pulled in his parachute. They had come prepared with thermal clothing that excelled in these conditions, BIG looked up to see the sun slowly setting. He walked away from his landing spot and found Delta and Pringle sorting their equipment, ‘Are you two ok’ asked BIG as he drew closer, ‘We fine’ replied Delta. The team gathered themselves and talked of what they were to do now. ‘Does the communicator work still?’ asked BIG, ‘No it’s been damaged, we’re on our own’ replied Delta sadly as he showed he now blackened piece of equipment. ‘The base will have heard my distress call and hopefully the beacon worked on the jet’ said Pringle as he looked round. ‘Well from my calculations we are about 20 miles from the site of the base, we’re going to have to walk I think but from what I can remember there is a small town about 8 miles from this area, we should try an get there if we can!’ said BIG grudgingly as he looked at the crumpled map. They headed off hoping they could find help in the small town that could be their last hope. An hour passed and still they were walking although BIG believed they were nearly there. Delta and Pringle hoped he was correct. The sun eventually set as they came across the small town, quiet and stealthily they crept down towards the town hoping they could find help. They came across a small Inn called the ‘Travellers Inn’ from what Pringle could make out from his slight knowledge of the Swedish language. They hid their larger weapons and some of their equipment and walked in. They were met with a sea of stares from what looked like local villagers. BIG and Delta sat at a table while Pringle went to the bar, he ordered some ale and brought it over to the other two. They took refreshing sips of the ale and relaxed. Suddenly a young man approached them, he asked them to follow him saying it was important in the local tongue, Pringle agreed and they followed the man into a small back room. Suddenly they were grabbed and held at knifepoint by a group of men. What was to happen know thought BIG!

Enjoy !

I have just re-read the whole thing from the beginning as I was bored - it is very good. I like the little twist in the last part best. Keep up the good work!
