Well, one day after buying my nice new Xbox, at the price of £300, I hear this:

Apparently, the price of the XBox is being dropped in the coming weeks. By 140 Euros. Bringing it to the price of about £215. Well, this could be good news in the long run, but for people like me, this is a real kick in the teeth.

So, I haven't got a clue about wheather is true or not. But, most of the people on that link seem to believe him. And, although I don't know what his status is, he said he got the mail from his suppliers.

So, If it's true: You heard it from me (a pretty annoyed Xbox owner) first.

And if it isn't true: You didn't see me, awright?

Discuss.

Do you reakon it would be just launch date buyers who get the compensation? Or people like me, who bought it at the full price. But a couple of weeks later.

Maybe that registration card will have something to do with it. They might either look at the purchase date, or serial number to see what price the person bought it at. Or they could set up a deal where you take your reciept to the shop you bought it from (or any shop) and they will give you the items/voucher.

Yup. People who bought the N64 at full price were compensated.

But who knows? This price drop thing might not even be true. It might be another year until we see a price drop.

Although, I doubt it.

Yeah I was wondering if launch date buyers were going to be compensated if this price drop happens so soon. If I rememeber right, wasn't there another console that did this ? I think it might have been the N64.

But the sales aren't that bad are they? I though it wasn't doing that bad in the UK.

Wasn't Japan the problem?

well cos they weren't expecting the sale to be this bad in the uk
also they're losing quite a lot already per console

I suppose the one consolation is that the URL says that people who bought the XBox at the original price, will get a certain amount of vouchers, to cover the extra costs. But what they'll be for, I don't know. As long as it isn't something like "buy £300 of software, and save 10% blah blah blah"

But if they are going to give out vouchers, shouldn't they have just set the price at £215 in the first place? It would have made a much better launch.

I hope there is a price drop soon, as I'm gearing up for the release of "Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller".

It's killing me not to be playing Jet Set Radio Future, but I've got to be patient.....
My bank balance is slowly moving into "Xbox purchase territory".

Xbox is the most expensive console in Japan, a mere £184.
