There is a severe lack of decent looking games still to be released. Short of FFX and The Getaway is there any AAA titles in development which I should be scratching myself in frustration over??

Yes, GTA3 is a good game. But you can not say that it is a game to get the PS2 for. The main reason being it's BBFC rating. Most gamers are under the age of eighteen, so unless their parents do the buying, retailers are breaking the law to sell this game to them.
Another reason why I wouldn't say it's a reason to get the PS2.... It's on the PC, and chances are that you've got a PC if you are able to read this message. Ok, fair enough, not everyone has a good enough PC to play GTA3 on, but PC upgrades are coming down in price, and there is always cheaper versions of haerdware available if you look arond for it.
You say in your opinion that Nintendo don't bring out any decent games. I'm sure if you saw the sales figures for Japan (the console aint out yet over here), Luigi's Mansion sld nearl;y as many copies as there were GameCube's in Japan on launch day. Surely 300,000 people aren't wrong? As with Super Smash Bros Melee in America. that broke somegaming records with it's number of sales.
I a game was truly bad, then it wouldn't get many, if any sales. I'm not saying that everything nintendo does is great. The Virtual Boy was terrible, and I know that without pying it. Sales were poor, and the number of epileptic fits caused by it proved the mache was actually dangerous!
A I'm saying is, to say nintendo is a naff company is totally out of order. Fair enough odon't like 8 games and 3 systems (from what you've mentioned), but that does not me company that has entertained people for over 110 years is naff! Nintendo would be banrupt by now if they were naff!
A just because I like nintendo, it doesn't mean I don't like any games on the PS2! Infac,my favoutite three PS2 games are (in order) Red Faction (though also on PC), Grand ThtAuto 3 (othough also on PC) and Time Crisis 2.
Is not just one or two people who like Nintendo though. I agree the N64 wasn't as gooait should have been, but the Playstation wouldn't be around if it weren't for Nintendo!B back to what I was saying. Ts was why the N64 didn't do too well in sales. It didn't have enough developers to kee it afloat in the market. Though the N64 did last longer than the Dreamcast, and the Strn (at different times mind) and still had many sales. If there were just as many develp, and Nintendo advertised a bit more in the second half of the console's life, chanceds are it would have been more popular and have lasted a few months longer.
Ihave to disagree with your comment about the Game Boy Advance though. You said wehld be playing 3d games, not 2d. Well, there are many 3D FPS's on the Game Boy Advanc:Dom, Ecks Vs Sever (which is being developed for PS2 I believe) and Backtrack to name ew. But what is actually wrong with playing a 2D game if it provides just as much, if n ore fun than a D game? the Game Boy Advance is designed to be small, to fit in your pct so that it can be played anywhere. Surely you don't expect to play massive adventures in 3Dwhilst on the train, or even sat on the bog? the Game Boy advance has a bareylife of 15 hours. Nintendo doesn't expect you to be playing a game solidly for that amot time, though there are many great games out there to play (not all by Nintendo) like onic Advance by Sega, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 by Activision and even Rayman by Ubi-o. The Game Boy Advance isn't about 128-bit games! Sure it's got more power than a Playstation (that's a fact not opinion), but it doesn't have the ability with such a small rn to have so many polygons all at once, or to have photo-realistic graphics that you eto expect.
So far, I have said I neither dislike Sony nor Nintendo. So that leaves 2 major compane. Microsoft and Sega.
Microsoft's X-box has done nothing for me. The controllers are terrible (that's also a lge number of the public's opinion), and the only game I've played properly was terrible ran exclusive launch title (Amped). Though this does not mean I will definately not get e console!
Just before Christmas, I was getting stuck as to what to ask my parents to get me. I being a normal 16 year old at the time, not earning money, decided that because the Drast was going cheap, I may as well have one. I made a good decision. I've now got a Deamcast with many brilliant games, though not all (Sega Bass fishing being one I dislike). I've not regretted getting the console and hope to enjoy many years of fun on it! plase not though, I never disliked Sega in the first place. I believed all the press, like you seem to be doing with Nintendo, that the Dreamcast was a terrible console and that was how my original decision not to get one came about.
So I may get an X-box in the future...i may not. It all depends on whether I can afford o, and if any games take my fancy that either I can't get on GameCube, my brother can't get on PS2 or I can't get on PC.
(please note, any spelling mistakes are due to me typing this on the Dreamcast where t eb browser aint the best...)

He said that because he didn't know what was coming out and earlier on he asked me what good games were coming out and thats how the forum started! Most of the games released on PS2 are of a good to excellent standard but as with all consoles it contains poor games but only a few unlike Nintendo who bring ot poor games all the time IN MY OPPINION! PS2 is by far the most popular console worldwide and I think it is the best, a lot of other people do as well but that does not mean that you are wrong in anyway because you like Nintendo, AGREE TO DISAGREE, you started an argument out of nothing and it has escalated and clearly you will not leave it alone, PS2 to me RULES and I hate Nintendo because to me they bring out more poor games than good ones!
The PS2 brought out 5 games which were worth buying the console for alone and not many can say that, SONY have and always will deliver class electronical systems and the PS2 is one, the liscences that the PS2 get are far greater than any other console, GTA3,MGS2,THPS3,DMC,GT3,RECVX,PRO EVOLUTION are just a few games that are worth getting the console for alone and I am not the only person that thinks so either, do you want to fall out over saomething this petty when really it is 2 people arguing for what they believe in, sure argue but don't let it get out of hand as I know from the past with my bad temper and I am trying to calm it down! AGREE TO DISAGREE!

I didn't say I owned any PS2 games. My brother does, I don't. He bought the console, I didn't so he buys the games.
He's got many which include:
PS1:
Harry Potter
GTA London
GTA2
