OK So I know lots probably think the xbox will win hands down but you only have to listen to the talk on the street and in the chatrooms to see that people are being swayed towards the gamecube with its cheap price and with games exclusivly on the cube it looks good.
EG SONIC, MARIO AND ZELDA and with the new game starfox on the way as well I know where my money is going and it aint with Microsoft....
Another rumour I have heard is that programmers like developig fot he cube but the xbox is extremely hard to master for developing games and I rection they will give up and concentrate on the CUBE.
Whats your Opinion ?

All this stuff about which console to develop for is kind of redundant when you realise that a bad idea is a bad idea, no matter how it's programmed.

How easy a console is to develop for isn't really the issue, it's which games are available for it, and which developers are working with it. Any decent developer will be able to get around any problems with dev. kits.

Shoddy development tools is a poor excuse for a bad game, but one many people will fall for.

Report suggests Sony's gaming dominance is secure

New research suggests the Xbox and the GameCube will not be able to topple the PlayStation 2 in the sales charts.

Datamonitor's report predicts rapid growth in sales of software for the three competing home consoles but it says Microsoft will have to settle for second place ahead of Nintendo.

Datamonitor say the emergence of new consoles has revitalised the electronic games market and renewed consumer interest.

The addition of multimedia features such as DVD playback and online gaming will further broaden the appeal, but they say Sony's dominance of the market - gained by its head start - will prove unassailable.

The strength of the PlayStation 2 brand, its competitive price and unrivalled catalogue of games will maintain the lead in the market for the foreseeable future.

The Xbox's initial price tag will hurt its commercial success in the short term but coming price cuts - combined by its impressive specification - will enable it to eventually secure second place in the market.

Report author Adrian Drozd says this will establish the Xbox as a serious gaming brand - a factor that should establish a more level playing field when the next machines are launched.

He expects this to happen in about 2005.

To cut a long story short, the GC deserves to win over the Xbox, but chances are it won't. We'll just have to wait and see.

EA did a good job with Rugby 2001, despite it being a better version of Jonah Lomu Rugby by Codemasters....
