Or, is it?
Before you nervously aim for that black cross in the top right hand corner, just take a little read will 'ya?
Well, people are always going on about how realistic something looks, like, in MGS2 how realistic the guards are and things like this, but, we never ever see gay people in games do we?
Gay people are something of the society and are now accepted nationwide (Well most of us accept them) as being openly gay, and we don't really care, so why are they left out of games? Why can't they have an impact on us, the gamers?
Now, how would they be included into a game? Hm? Well, I had a little think and a talk with my brain, and we came up with this.
" Gay people could only be shown as gay if the game was rated 18, therefore we will see 2 men or women holding hands and such, making the game just that little extra bit realistic " For them to be actually shown as gay, they would have to be kissing or something wouldn't they? So, that automatically puts an 18 rating sticker on it.
Yes, but then "We" also thought how the media would react. I can see the headlines already "Gay's in games"
But, whats wrong with that? Eh? Only old fashioned people who won't accept it. Well, I don't think its right for a man and a man, or a women and a women, but, I won't hold that against someone, they are still human, living flesh, with feelings and emotions, and if they won't to live their life in that way, then im cool with that.
Seeing as most of the gamers are of the male variaty, I doubt we would like seeing men holding hands, but women, Lesbeins, I think the sales figures for that game would rise considerablaly. So, why don't we see it? Why? Why are they left out? Why? Why can't we see it? Its because its a very delicate subject.
So, how would you react to gays in games? Would you encourage it? Or dissaprove? Or would you just think "Hm, interesting" then you'd carry on with your shooting spree or driving rampage? Just think about it. How would your mother react? Mm? I thought that'd make you think.
Thanks for reading
GasMask
I gave some flowers to a builder, and he says:
"What? You give it to me?"
Thank God for poorly translated game text, one of the best things on Earth. :0)
"Did anyone ever try giving flowers to a man to see what would happen?"
I *think* I did. If I remember, it says along the lines of:
"Is this for me? Sorry? *cough*"
Something like that. Tell you what, I'll go play it now and find out.
"Gayming"
:o)
It would just be a fresh up to date face on gaming. Spooky about Snuggly mind you..
Im not on about the main charecter being gay, just maybe we could see some gay people or something, or perhaps the big mafia gangsta "Tony" man is actually gay or something. It would make a change.
The content of a game has to interest people to sell. But with something 'un-cool' like gay people in it, gamers may ignore this game as they feel they'd be called gay for buying it! But it is still a good thing when you get a lively game with lots of different, fun, and intersting characters in it - like Conker's BFD.
Come on, would you honestly buy a game with a gay bloke as the main character!! But a game where you must destroy the homo's would be a top-seller!
And by the way, Big Gay Al from South Park is an example of gay character in a game - and no-one liked South Park, did they!!
Lets home gays stay away from out games!
spooky indeed.
I don't think sexuality has much to do with gaming, but as it's should be your story that you change as you go along, why couldn't you go the gay way?
If any one has ever played Harvest Moon, they'd know that part of the game was finding yourself a wife. Did anyone ever try giving flowers to a man to see what would happen? I don't think it should let you, but it should have done. Mind you, the builders might not have liked it that much.
Is this the future of gay ming?
Gays in games isn't bad, it's funny and it makes a change, nice to have a little bit of cultural realism in games, shows they're thinking about the storyline's detail a bit more.
What I hate is the excess of Women power, I don't see why theres so much of it, no way am I sexist, I think it's cool, just a little too much, watch the Adverts on any channel, I bet there will be about 2/3 women power adverts :)
anyway, back to your subject, I think theres only a problem if you make one, if your a guy and you like another guy, nothing wrong with it, bit different, but everyones entitled to their own opinion, I hope they're happy with each other.
