Damn straight!

Or, is it?

Before you nervously aim for that black cross in the top right hand corner, just take a little read will 'ya?

Well, people are always going on about how realistic something looks, like, in MGS2 how realistic the guards are and things like this, but, we never ever see gay people in games do we?

Gay people are something of the society and are now accepted nationwide (Well most of us accept them) as being openly gay, and we don't really care, so why are they left out of games? Why can't they have an impact on us, the gamers?

Now, how would they be included into a game? Hm? Well, I had a little think and a talk with my brain, and we came up with this.

" Gay people could only be shown as gay if the game was rated 18, therefore we will see 2 men or women holding hands and such, making the game just that little extra bit realistic " For them to be actually shown as gay, they would have to be kissing or something wouldn't they? So, that automatically puts an 18 rating sticker on it.

Yes, but then "We" also thought how the media would react. I can see the headlines already "Gay's in games"

But, whats wrong with that? Eh? Only old fashioned people who won't accept it. Well, I don't think its right for a man and a man, or a women and a women, but, I won't hold that against someone, they are still human, living flesh, with feelings and emotions, and if they won't to live their life in that way, then im cool with that.

Seeing as most of the gamers are of the male variaty, I doubt we would like seeing men holding hands, but women, Lesbeins, I think the sales figures for that game would rise considerablaly. So, why don't we see it? Why? Why are they left out? Why? Why can't we see it? Its because its a very delicate subject.

So, how would you react to gays in games? Would you encourage it? Or dissaprove? Or would you just think "Hm, interesting" then you'd carry on with your shooting spree or driving rampage? Just think about it. How would your mother react? Mm? I thought that'd make you think.

Thanks for reading

If I saw gay people in a game like GTA3 I would just shoot them and make them suffer till they die, but hey, I do that in almost any shooting game to anybody, oh well.

Very intresting. All the charecters could be gay but we just aren't given enough "Clues" or its not obvious. Its only a matter of time before producers do make its blatently obvious.

Look at Luigi's moustache and the way he is scared of ghosts. Nuff said. Mario however, runs around tonnes of different worlds recuing a fit girl, eating cake and talking to mushrooms. Nuff said.

GTA3 features a few homosexual characters in it.

There's the obvious blokes in tight shorts who walk around the city quoting Village People songs, but the one that really made me chortle was when you first get to Staunton Island, the cut-scene in the Yakuza bird's apartment where says "leave me and Maria to get re-acquainted", then you hear the two of them talking in the background...

Maria: Oh, you've got a massager!
Yakuza bird: that's not a massager....

Laugh, I nearly died. Bet that one slipped past a few of you....

Anyway, the problem is that most game characters are pretty one dimensional - their sexuality is usually not even mentioned unless it's part of the plot. Joanna Dark could be a screaming carpet muncher for all we know. Luigi could be a shirt lifter - it's not like he's ever given any indication of being straight, gay or otherwise. And the problem with the one-dimensionality is that if you introduce sexuality into that shallow a character, it becomes the overriding character feature. Duke Nukem is obviously straight (or in serious denial), but there's nothing else to his character.

Probably the only style in which it may work would be RPGs. To be honest, I'm suprised it's not been done yet. S'only a matter of time.
